Have Nerds Become The New D0uchebags?

as nerd culture conflates with hipster culture and hipster culture becomes mainstream culture, does the elitism and sense of entitlement emanating from current nerd culture make them the new douchebags just like the jocks and dudebros before them?

I was reading that new jade raymond interview and was reminded of that porn comic made about her back when the first assassin's creed was released. she actully decided to hide out from the public eye because of all the sexist and misogynistic crap she was receving from geeks on the internet. even in real life geeks have become so smug and elitist. I mean, look at comic-con. they are no longer the loveable losers you once knew from the 80's. ever since geek culture went mainstream they've become the new douchebags

Well anyone can be a D bag, but I think nerds and geeks are becoming more popular and mainstream.

I mean the highest grossing movies now are based on Comic Books and Sci Fi...and traditional nerd dress has become apart of modern fashion. (Those big square glasses that all of the athletes now wear)

Nerd and geek aren't really bad terms towards people anymore, it really helps when we have people like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg giving us a good rep.

Although I do hate when Soroities and Frats have nerd themed parties........

I work in IT so I tend to be around a lot of nerds on a daily basis and in general, no, nerds are not douchebags.  However, there are some that do develop a god complex.  Also, I have a special distain for hipsters... IMO they are the definition of douchebags.

Nerds have always been the douchebags, in regards to the internet.

Its an outlet for them to vent their nerd rage, without fear of physical or bodily harm.

The probalem is jocks and dudebros think they're nerds now since they use the internet.  But they still act like jocks and dudebros.
