Cells phones are like the most important thing in the world... especially if you're a working parent with a child. E.g Say your kid gets off at 2:30, but you don't get home till 3:30.

Cell phone's are how most people communicate. Text, talk, twitter, facebook, etc, is how most people communicate. It usually holds email and other phone contacts. So if you lost the use of your phone it would be very hard to communicate at all with friends and family.

as long as im not driving my phone hardly gets used.

i use it to listen to music while i drive.

other than that, it hardly gets used, other than the few odd calls here and there.

oh i do also use my phone as an alarm clock every morning. so guess id have to use my real alarm clock if needed. i fvcking hate the alarm sound though. makes me cringe.

I definitely see how people have gotten too attatched to them, especially when I'm driving and I see people on their phones in their cars. I want to reach in there and slap them. I live in a college town, so it's especially bad among all the students. As for myself, I only use mine to call my parents since I don't live with them anymore and set up meetings with my friends.

Of course...at least some people. My roommate says I can't go anywhere without my phone, but I just want to be available for others. I'm not one of the people that will be on my phone constantly when I'm with friends...honestly, I think it's rude. If you're paying more attention to your phone, why are you with me?

I mostly find this a problem with people that have access to interet on their phones.

Eh, it is a useful tool... This is kind of like asking if one is too attached to their shoes. A mobile phone is pretty handy for communication, even for people with not much social activity it has it's uses (emergency, playing games if bored, camera, pretending to text/call in order not to appear "sketchy" lol).

I use my phone all the time, but the vast majority of the time isn't spent talking or texting. Usually reading, working, or listening to something or watching something. Its these people that use twitter/facebook/text constantly that you have to watch out for.

I'm not talking about just using it a lot. I use my phone quite a bit. I am talking about people seeing it as a need instead of a convenience. the people who cant seem to function without it. Of course certain jobs require you to have your phone on you at all times but that doesn't mean you are too attached to it.

As soon as my ETF shrinks to at or below a single month of service (should be around February) I am going to pay it and NEVER have another phone. Ever. There isn't anyone in the world I want to hear from bad enough to pay $90 a month for the ability to do so. Send me a letter....at YOUR expense.

The only reason I'll miss it is because I currntly drive a beater which is subject to leaving me stranded anytime I get in it and go anywhere.

It's pretty annoying that people are constantly on their phones. I would be more than happy to go back about 10 years to when not every single human in the country had a cell phone and if they did they weren't fvcking around with it constantly.

It depends..... Some people use their cell phone as their primary means of communication (no land line), that is not a bad thing. That's not to say that checking up on facebook every 30 minutes is necessary.

Without cell phones communication is significantly more difficult.

So I can fully understand why they put that there.

And no. Everybody likes having one but I've learned from experience that it doesn't matter how attached you are to electronics, when you have to, you'll get by without them.

I've spent months with no internet, cable, or a working smart phone and I had no problem. Granted I still accessed the internet, but it was sparingly.

People maythinkthey're addicted, but they're not.

Today's phones are so much versatile. But what i notice, people navigate their phone every 5 seconds when their not even in a phone/text conversation or web usage.

Prior to the invention of the cell phone, people just stood around helplessly unable to communicate. It was quite a sight to behold.

phones are important. its the easiest way to communicate with people and usually the only way during an emergency. people not being able to communicate with friends and family during a major natural disaster is a big deal.

A land line usually still works as long as it is not a phone that needs electricity for it to work (like a battery operated phone with a baseplate/charger). They still work to this day as well as pay phones, which many New Yorkers found out this week as they fed change into the few that are still in the city.

People got by with not having cell phones for a hundred years or so. They were able to reach their children in school without a problem. They were able to function and have a social life without having a piece of plastic and electronic parts growing out of their hands. A social life means interacting with others in person and face to face. If you are typing messages to someone via Facebook, you are not having a social life and if you do happen to be out with friends and are still more interested in what happens via your cell phone, you are not involved in a social event.
