I've only been once and that was over 10 years ago with my dad. And then I went to a week-long camp at Yosemite like 7 years ago, but we were in log cabins, not tents. That was awesome. That's still the only time I've seen so many stars in the sky because Yosemite is, well Yosemite. :)

I'm going again today and am pretty stoked because we're gonna camp on the beach and have a bonfire or two.

Do you like to camp? Sleeping under the stars seems pretty awesome.

I love camping. I go several times a year. I have gear for backpacking and more comfortable gear for "car camping."

Used to go camping year-round when I was active in Boy Scouts. I haven't been camping in a few years now and I'm really missing it.

went camping for the first time since i was a kid a couple weeks ago. it was fun but hiking up the side of a steep mountain for 4 hours with tents, sleeping bags, clothes, food, cooking utensils, etc. is not very pleasant.

Camping is a great way to remind myself how much I love showers and soft beds.

I first started camping when I was about 10 years old. We went camping at the base lake the first few times and then we started going to a campground near the Platte River in Nebraska. The last time I went camping was last year when we went to Ocen City MD to watch my nephew play soccer.

Yes I go camping from time to time. I use to be a JR. camp counselor for the "Fresh Air Fund" when I was17. I love the outdoors, sometimes it's refreshing getting away from all the air and light pollution. When I'm looking up at all those stars I realize that everything we make a fuss about down here (on Earth) is trivial. Our problems only exist because we fuel them. I like to think of us as the magnificant insignificant.

not lately but i used to do a ton of backpacking.

i always wanted to do the appalachian trail in its entirety but there never seems to be enough time so i settle for a couple hundred mile stretches here and there when i can get away for a week or two.

We used to camp quite a lot when I was a kid. Never deep woods hike-to-get-there kind, but provincial campgrounds. Most were no-hookups, but there was one or two that had actual showers which was nice. Being clean while camping is very necessary for me. We've always had a little trailer though, but I've slept in a tent a couple times.

I like camping by myself. With people, no. I used to go all the time with family when I was a kid. Now I like backpacking or biking by myself and then camping by myself.

When I camp it's a one night deal so showering isn't a big deal. :P

about once every year. but only like XilePrincess pointed out, like the campgrounds around Minnesota and Wisconsin.

i have camped out in the Saudi desert twice as well, but there are no camps for that, just remember exactly where the fvck you are exactly in the desert. Did it once as a kid with my uncles and cousins, and did it again 2 years ago with a group of my cousins.

though i do find it humorous, it isn't exactly dark at night when one side of the horizon glows orange from the oil refinery lights :P

Several times, I think a total of three times.

Didn't mind not taking a shower but one problem was the outhouse. Oh how I loathe the outhouse and the horrific smell.

But I do want to go camping again, even for multiple days.

Yes. There were some pretty cool and remote places in Alberta, British Columbia, and New Brunswick that we went to. It's not something I'd make a tradition of though.

If it's in a hut or cabin then I'll manage, I hate sleeping in a tent though but if left with no choice even then I can do it.

we didnt have out houses just packed paper and a small shovel. We learned how to make shelter, fire, different fire pits for various purposes, and also how to store food underground. This was the first time i tried bbq/roasted corn and smores. Cant believe i was missing out on that. Fun times indeed....until the shovel ended up missing.

My favorite way to camp is to go during winter, build a shelter, and make a fire right next to it. Good times.

I used to do a lot of tent camping in the Boy Scouts when I was younger, and some with a camper borrowed from my in-laws more recently. It's great fun.

My wife and I did a trip through the Black Hills before we were engaged and saw Mount Rushmore, Devil's Tower and Custer State park. Angusture State Park in South Dakota is a great jumping off point.

One thing I learned was never hold it in if it's not necessary. That could seriously screw you up and I learned the hard way. I had to use the outhouse more than one occassion and it was still unbearable.

The first time I used the outhouse, we were at a campsite that was filled with ticks so I wouldn't think taking a dumb/piss out in the woods would be a good idea. :P Actually I don't know a good way to avoid ticks other than to avoid places with tall grass and to stay on the trail at all times but I did get two/three ticks on me on my leg.

When I was a kid we frequently went camping, primarily along the coast. I could handle the first night or two pretty well, but if we stayed longer than that I grew to hate it. :P

I hear ya. I also think outhouses are disgusting, can you imagine someone falling in there, eww. I don't worry about ticks/insects much we had some good bug spray and candels to fight them off. You just have to becareful what you brush up against. One of my friends kept scratching his ass for 2 days straight because he sat on some posion oak. Now I make sure to pack topical creames whenever I take one of these trips.

Candels? Or candles? How do you use candles against ticks? Never heard of that method.

bug repellant candles, or insents. I guess it's the chemicals in the smoke because I've never had a problem with ticks. Maybe it's just luck I guess.

I'm out camping and only have an iPad, and can't seem to get that image to work. I'm at Lake Casitas, though, maybe you could look it up. :)
