Several times, I think a total of three times.
Didn't mind not taking a shower but one problem was the outhouse. Oh how I loathe the outhouse and the horrific smell.
But I do want to go camping again, even for multiple days.
we didnt have out houses just packed paper and a small shovel. We learned how to make shelter, fire, different fire pits for various purposes, and also how to store food underground. This was the first time i tried bbq/roasted corn and smores. Cant believe i was missing out on that. Fun times indeed....until the shovel ended up missing. One thing I learned was never hold it in if it's not necessary. That could seriously screw you up and I learned the hard way. I had to use the outhouse more than one occassion and it was still unbearable.
The first time I used the outhouse, we were at a campsite that was filled with ticks so I wouldn't think taking a dumb/piss out in the woods would be a good idea. :P Actually I don't know a good way to avoid ticks other than to avoid places with tall grass and to stay on the trail at all times but I did get two/three ticks on me on my leg.
I hear ya. I also think outhouses are disgusting, can you imagine someone falling in there, eww. I don't worry about ticks/insects much we had some good bug spray and candels to fight them off. You just have to becareful what you brush up against. One of my friends kept scratching his ass for 2 days straight because he sat on some posion oak. Now I make sure to pack topical creames whenever I take one of these trips.
