My school basketball team took 1st place in the whole league. We got a picture on our local newspaper. I wasn't even looking at the camera in the pic lol.
I was in the sports section for a playoff game in baseball. Basically just giving a rundown of my stats and defensive performance behind home plate. It was pretty awesome. I was in the paper a couple of other times as well. One was for being MVP of the game against our schools rivals. I still have those articles hanging up :)
I dont think I have ever been in the paper. My GF was on the front page of the local bigger city paper when she graduated HS for walking (with help of walker) to get her diploma when she graduated.

Same. I lived in a relatively small city though.The best time my name was in the paper wasn't even about me, though. Someone with the same name as me was arrested for a violent crime. My family got a lot of phone calls that day.
Yes. When I was in High School on the wrestling team, there was a story about the team I was on and my picture was the one taken during one of my matches.
I come from a town of less than 9000 people that had a newspaper. It wasn't difficult to get into the paper, all you really had to do was show up to an event.

Yes, when my brother was born. He was the first baby in the area to be born on mothers day, both of my brothers, my mother and I were all in the newspaper.
Once when I was running a music store I was interviewed and quoted for the expected excitement revolving around some upcoming concert show as we sold tickets at that location.
Girl in a local high school was picked to go to the US Army All-American Bowl last January. I had to go to the school to present her with her award and the picture of us giving her a jacket ended up on the front page of the town newspaper with me and another Soldier standing to each side of her.
I was in a picture in the newspaper. Once was for when I was helping my Mom at the Village Pantry (Poor people come in and get some canned food and whatnot, we would stock the shelves/ carry groceries to their car)

Nope. I had the opportunity to do so in the local newspaper when I was young (doing well in some exam) but my Parents declined. I was just happy about doing well so I didn't really care :P.
I've been in the local newspaper several times, usually for school-related things (high school Latin Club's accomplishments, summer orchestra camps, student council projects, etc.). It's not that exciting, really, since the local paper here is a joke and there's never anything real to write about anyway.
There was a wicked flood here a few years ago that landed my wife (then girlfriend) and I on the front page picture. it was us looking at a flooded river in the downtown area of my city.
Oh I had a writeup and color pic of a piece of software I was working on in USA Today once; another thing I did got written up in Wired, back when they were still mildly relevant
I had to almost die to get into the newspaper lol, when i was 3 years old i had a seizure and i had to be revived by the volunteer firefighters who were the first at the scene and saved my life, it was a small town so i made it in the newspaper which i still have to this day
I have been in the papers several times over the years. I can think of at least three times I have been so far. I expect to be in the paper one last time though as everyone else should be too.
I was also interviewed for a European games magazine back in 2005 while at Games Convention in Leipzig.
When I was 10, I was interviewed in the local paper about a former Nazi that had lived in our neighborhood for years and years. The feds came and deported the guy so that he would face charges on war crimes back in Europe. When they did the news stations were everywhere, and the paper was cool enough to print my name in their as well as a couple sentences on how I felt about it.
