I've only dated 2 girls, and they haven't stood me up, but I'm just wondering because, I'm pretty sure after like 10 minutes, I would call the person, and if they don't answer I'm out of there.

So... If you have been stood up, what does it feel like, I imagine it would suck pretty bad, and how long did you wait.

Also, why would people even stand people up, that's so much worse then actually saying NO to a date, or cancelling. I think. I mean, unless they just wanted to hurt you, that's pretty low. If I ever get stood up, I'd be PO'd.

Can we hear some. I'd rather hear the truth, and they just say no, then to hear some stupid excuse.

I was stood up close to an hour by my ex on our second or third date. I sent a message "Got sick of waiting and have gone home. Have fun." She called me back about thirty seconds later and pretty much ran to be there within minutes. I think a lot of girls do want to test how far they can stretch a chap, and that it's really important to nip that in the bud.

You waited an hour before calling her? And she made you wait on purpose?

Wow, you have patience, and she sounds like a big... seriously what's wrong with people. How come you didn't call her like after 20 minutes.

Yeah, She did send me several texts saying she wouldn't be there for a bit, but while I was waiting I started fuming over it being such a small thing to her. I am a bit of a sucker with these things - even moreso back then - but when I lose my rag, I can get really snappy. Turned out in my favour either way. :)

I was stood up last month in fact. I waited for 30 minutes and then left. I got stood up before so this time I just decided to spare my dignity and leave.

Can't say I've ever been "stood up", but I can remember on 2 separate occasions being on a first date where the girl had some type of abort plan involving a friend calling her at a set time and making up some bull**** excuse to cut the date early. Both times I was too naive to realize what had happened until the next day when my phone calls weren't returned.

I have never been stood up, thankfully. I do, however, remember some instances in high school where girls would invite me to social events and whatnot and I would always say "hell yes!" and then when it was time to leave I would get nervous and just sit at home and play video games . The next day I would get the "where were you?" texts to which I would deviously give the "went to another sweet party, sorry." reply. Man was I a pansy in high school :P

Yup, but not in the traditional sense.

Basically this girl I was interested in and I had arranged that we would go out the next day for lunch and then see a movie. She stated that she had some errands to take care of in the morning but she would definitely be down for doing something afterwards. When I talked to her, she looked sincere and eager about the event. She said she would finish her errands by 10am at the latest and would call me afterwards to meet up. Come 10am the next day I'm waiting patiently for her call, nothing comes. An hour goes by before I decide I better contact her, I don't want to be too intrusive in case shes still busy so I just send a simple text message asking if she got held up. 5, 10, 15, 20 mins go by and no response. I wait a full hour till 12 oclock before I send her another simple message just asking her if she ran into any problems and asking if we should reschedule. Same thing no response whatsoever. Finally by 1 oclock I decide I should just call her; the phone rings twice before I'm directed to voicemail. I took that as an immediate cue that she was ignoring me. I gave up at that point and just made myself lunch.

A couple hours later she sends me a text saying, "sorry I forgot". I was really dissapointed because theres no way that could be true. We arranged this plan the night before and I had continuously tried to get in touch with her to no avail. I'd rather she flat out said no than just made me wait there thinking we were going to do something.

The worst part is, I was friends with this girl prior to asking her out so I trusted her quite a bit. I really liked her and delluded myself into thinking it was an honest mistake. I got a whole bunch more maybes(aka no but I don't want to hurt your feelings) and I ended up wasting a year chasing after her.

I haven't been stood up, but I have a lot of people in my life who couldn't be on time if it was life or death. Sometimes I've had to wait up to 2-3 hours for a reply that I need ASAP, or all night to talk to somebody who said they'd call or MSN message me at a certain time. Pisses me off. I've never actually had somebody not show up when I was waiting for them in public though. If I know the person fails at punctuality I'll go pick them up, not rely on them to get there themselves, or to come get me.

Never been stood up, but on valentines day I went on a really awkward date with a girl who showed every intention of going out with me previously but as I found out later apparently changed her mind in the days leading up to the date. Right at the start of the date she told me how ****faced she got the other night, and how she made out with some foreign dude. Its like, if you're not into me, please tell me, I won't take offense to it, but don't turn a date which I've been looking forward too into an awkward mess once its begun, because that makes you look like a **** and it makes me feel like a loser. :?.

That's why you don't go on dates where you aren't picking the girl up at her house. That way, worst comes to worst, she just doesn't answer the door and you just go home.

It's even more effective to just club them over the head and drag them back to your cave.

Some Phycologists suggest there is something in the nature of girls which gives them pleasure inflicting emotional pain in ways such as this. It is noticed even at infancy.

I think most would rather the they send a basic text or call that they can't make it...You know, like an adult.

That sucks. I've never been stood up, but more than once I've seen girls I had the intention to ask out get other dates because I wasn't fast enough. It's a terrible thing to happen, specially if it's a girl you've been meaning to talk to for a while.
