I was getting my taxes done yesterday, While I was waiting, I took out my psp and started playing dissidia. The guy sitting next to me noticed what I was playing and asked if I wanted to fight him (in dissidia). Its weird because almost the exact same thing happend last year while I was getting my taxes done. It was the same place, I was playing the same game; It was a different guy though.

That's not Deja Vu... Deja Vu is being in a situation and feeling like you have been there before (though actually not having been there)...

I experience that all the time...

EDIT: And by this I mean, say you enter a situation and as it progresses, you feel as though you have already seen that exact situation before, in a dream for example... That feeling is Deja Vu.

From Wikipedia.

"Déjà vu (French pronunciation: [deʒa vy] ( listen), meaning "already seen") is the experience of feeling sure that one has already witnessed or experienced a current situation, even though the exact circumstances of the previous encounter are uncertain and were perhaps imagined. The term was coined by a French psychic researcher, Émile Boirac (1851–1917) in his book L'Avenir des sciences psychiques ("The Future of Psychic Sciences"), which expanded upon an essay he wrote while an undergraduate. The experience of déjà vu is usually accompanied by a compelling sense of familiarity, and also a sense of "eeriness," "strangeness," "weirdness," or what Sigmund Freud calls "the uncanny." The "previous" experience is most frequently attributed to a dream, although in some cases there is a firm sense that the experience has genuinely happened in the past.[1]"

A lot when I was young. Mines a bit different and seems a bit weirder. I would dream of a insignificant experience. Then one day, what I dream, rather its picking up a basketball or beating a certain level in a game, that same experience would happen weeks, months, or even years later. It wouldn't be until after I've done the action that I realized it something I've seen before...

That isn't deja vu... you actually experienced it before. Deja vu is the feeling that it has happened before when it has not. And yes, I experience it all the time.

I get that quite frequently. I've also been able to edit it; I've been in that situations and it's turned out exactly the same, however I've also been in situations where I haven't aknowledged the fact that what I'm seeing is deja vu and it's turned out completely differently. It's very strange, sometimes I've dreamed of myself playing video games long before I ever actually take a look at them, or, in one case, before its release.

So yes, I have had deja vu. A question I sometimes mull over: "does deja vu prove predeterminism?"

foxhound_fox

Just because I can't remember it, doesn't mean a similar situation hasn't happened in the past.

All the time, actually. I dream about random events quite often, only to have a similar experience happen in real life. I sometimes forget about the dream, but if I remember it when it actually happens, I always get that Deja Vu feeling:P.

Well, I stop getting those dreams. I feels like I rarely even have dreams after a bundle of suicide dreams when I was 15. And I remember them as clear as day. Those dreams scare me since it felt as though I was awake. As if my fate has been determined and whatever path I take will lead to suicide...

Just did today. It's always something really small though. Like today it was a few things combined but what triggered it was seeing my reflection in a window. I wonder if Deja Vu is caused by dreams or if there's more to it. Considering EVERYONE gets it, and quite often, it seems unlikely to me that it would be dreams. I don't know.

Hasn't everybody?

Oh, apparently not..? :?

I've heard it occurs because there can sometimes be a delay between your brain receiving the image of what you're seeing & putting it into memory, and then actually comprehending it.

So it "stores" it in your memory, and then you realise what's actually happening, and it feels like a memory. Or something like that.
