This just happened to me, and it happens often. I'll put in my headphones and play a song, but it'll be at max volume and freak me the hell out as I wasn't expecting it to be so loud. Does this happen to you? I hate it!

I think apple planned it that way... Whenever I would unplug my headphones the volume would go max (I guess so it was louder for the built in speaker), but then it would not go back down when I put them back in. Really pissed me off a lot.

mine (samsung yp-p3) has an auto stopper thingy so even if I max the volume out, whenever I turn it off or unplug the line-out, it automatically re-adjusts the volume to medium level. but i used to have this earphones that amplified the sound a little too much, more than average earphones, so even at medium volume, it would still freak me out.

Yes and sometimes when I forget to lock it I'll be jogging and it will suddenly get louder and louder until I have to tear them out and fix it.

Not with my ipod but when I get off of work I drive down the freeway and to keep awake I turn my volume up extremely loud. When I go drive my car in the morning it scares the crap out of me.
