have you ever stood up to a professor/teacher when they were wrong about something?

i did once, and the way to do it (well the way i did it) is that when the teacher was shouting at me i answered completely calm, andI totally came out the winner, especially if you can point out were the teacher fails. I explained to him that not letting us speak in class meant that we could not explain things to each other, something that he could not do after that he did not have any counterpoint. buti did get detention.

Yes, I have but I never really put much effort into it. A teacher was blaming me for knocking down the chess pieces outside (which I did not do) and I merely replied (Do you have proof?). I got detention for this.

Lies, it's impossible to win against a teacher. No matter how right you are you'll just get detention/kicked out class/etc.

Yes, I have. She was being very harsh with her grading and so I took her aside after class and explained to her the different types of learning. Some people are hands on, some people learn from observation and that she needs to open her variety a bit so she can reach everyone. She agreed and did so.

if you can remain calm you can win, but if you get upset you look like a little kid. dont ever personally attack them, just let them lose the argument on their own...

Never, never had to either. I've had pretty reasonable teachers over my educational career, also I am a very reasonable student.

Yes, there was a question on my Physics test that I got right but I did a really weird method that I don't even know how I did, and he said I either cheated or it's a load of crap.

I used to correct my AP Calc teacher; she'd frequently make small errors when working stuff out on the board and I'd usually be able to correct them. The only thing I'd regard as really standing up to a teacher was when I got into it with my CS teacher in public high school after she put up on her bulletin board in late November big letters reading "JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON." This was in rural Alabama, so I think it never occurred to her that advocating her religion might be, you know, unconstitutional. She and I went round and round about it over a couple days but she finally relented.

Ya - a swedish professor that taught cartographic. Said to the class the first day, "draw a map" (period). No instructions of any kind. I made the fanciest map I could on the first day. I got a C, everyone else got an A. I called him on this - said, "I want to see your Behavior Objectives for that assignment. He blew me off with -"you are a Biology Major, the rest of the class are Geography Majors - get used to it."

I slit all the tires on his car - TAKE THAT SUCKA

One time a teacher, who was a major douchebag by the way, was harassing me about nothing at all, so I told him I would stick my d**k in his eye, and made a thrusting motion and yelled "PING!!!" And he did nothing. He took a lot of crap for some reason, but I never thought I would get away with it. He realized that he had nothing and laughed it off. (This wasnt in the classroom, it was during track practice, because he was our track coach as well.....)

Well...sort of..I got into a debate with the teacher on why my research proposal was appropriate. She thought it was unethical. My advice...don't do it. I think my grade got knocked down because of it. :(

EDIT: Oh, another thing. I remember taking a class that basically required you to just show up and listen to guest speakers for career advice. One of the professors actually said he took a letter grade off a student's final grade because he didn't like him sleeping in class. That student had an A and it was knocked down to a B.

Be careful. You can have a teacher that one. He seemed like a nice person too.

One time I walked into the classroom half an hour late and the teacher yelled at me so I stabbed him. Then the principle came in and I paniced so I stabbed him.

Really though, I haven't had a reason to. Even if I do have a reason then I probably won't do anything because I don't care and I'm just in school to pass.

Yeah I hate teachers. So many people I know have beaten up their teachers for being a bunch of *** holes to other peoplr. Like this one time, a new transfer student was lost and accidently walked into a class (it hadn't even really started yet) asked the teacher where some room was, and he started yelling at her and kicked her out. She was about to cry, and my friend just starting telling the teacher how rude he was, and the teacher kicked him out of class.

There's also this ***** that calls himself a teacher (Geometry) who doesn't teach a thing. He just relaxes in class and never gives any classwork, so everybody's like, wtf are we supposed to do? And if anybody talks, he kicks them out. He gives everybody an F, no matter what. I don't know how ****s like him are ever hired for a job.

I was mad at my professor cause he lost alot of my work that i did for his class, he gave me a 3.7 college grade but that was not good enough cause i got an A on every test and did all the worked and got a A on the final so i wanted a 4.0 I got my 4.0, I took it up with him, talked to him a bit, and he changed my grade. Did that with a few other professors too, one said if we ever felt like we deserved a better grade talk to him about it and make a good point and he would change it, i did that with every paper, project, assignmnet i got that i did not like my grade on, anothe 4.0 :] I dont take bad grades unless i really deserve them, but no lazy professor is going to keep me out of my masters program so i fight for my grades.

I argued with teachers frequently in elementary school, I eventually learned that many teachers are infallible in their own minds, and that there's no use arguing.

A few times, but it didn't really matter since you were always written up and gave a detention for being right. At least you had your pride..it's way MORE fun being a smartass in class though.
