Yesterday I re-installed my computer due to the spread of Trojans. I've stored all my songs and movies on a portable USB. I've downloaded the latest updates to my Ati Radeon 3850. Installed Xvid Codec, Nimo Codec Pack, KLCodec 5.0.5, updated Windows Media Player to 11 and installed VLC. When playing on WMP11, I can hear the audio but I can't watch the movie content. And when playing on VLC I get this message: "VLC can't recognize the input's format:
The format of 'C:Documents and SettingsMyAccountMine dokumenterDownloadsCan't name it privacy stuff' cannot be detected. Have a look at the log for details."But I can still hear audio though such as WMP11.

Any thoughts or idea? Thanks a bunch. :)

thats happened to me once. I would try quicktime player that should be able to play it. If not then the actual video has something wrong with it. You would get Trojans if you keep downloading movies :P

I tried Quicktime and it didn't work. It asked me to search for components but didn't help much. And yeah, I know some movies would give me Trojans but I download from a safe website. :D Thanks however.

@ jimmyjammer69: I've replied back. Thanks! @starwarsjunky: When Installing the Mega Lite Pack, I was asked to remove Xvid Codec, Nimo and all other installed features and it even detected one codec that was broken and recommended be to uninstall it. I did it all and rebooted. When I tried to play a movie the same issue occurs, even the new movie I recently obtained. >.

Really sorry for the late responds. Anyway.. I tried to use the Gspot and it said Codec is installed on a movie I recently got. However, I tried to watch a movie with an actual DVD(cd) and it worked perfectly(played it on Media Player Classic). Somehow, I can't watch movies that are downloaded or in my computer.

I'm not an expert but I'd never heard of nimo. Maybe you could try uninstalling that and just use K-Lite - I've never had any problems with that.

I'll run a windows update first and install neccessary package. Then I'll uninstall every codec I've obtained and only go with K-Lite Mega Pack and see how it goes. Thanks however. :p

That's very strange. In my experience VLC will play just about anything you throw at it. Probably a bad video file.

Very akward and confusing at the same time. After uninstalling all codecs on my computer. I installed K Lite 5.0.5 Basic codec. And the result was the same. But there was something I figured out. After opening the movie on Winamp, you see nothing but hear sounds. While playing on Winamp, you open the same movie again on WMP11 or any other media players and now I can see the video content and the sound too. So you got Winamp on pause, and then you can watch it on Windows Media Player 11 or anything else. Weird huh? But it is still not what I wanted. I'll keep figure out what to do. Any other hints would be nice. Thanks

I apologize for bumping this thread but I have found the solution to this problem. I uninstalled my graphic card (Sapphire Ati Radeon 3850 HD) and re-installed it and it solved the problem. Such a difficult task xD. Though I still don't understand why it happened though, could've been a missing reg file or a corrupted file during installation. But it is all done. I thank everyone who helped me out on this. Very appreciated. /thread
