Terrible sound quality for the price. Get some sennheisers, much much better quality for a much much lower price.

You know what makes them so expensive? A 'Beats by Dr. Dre' logo. That is all. Quality is (apparently) crap.

There's nothing better about them over a $50 pair. Save yourself a few hundred bucks and get something else.

if looks is a concern of yours, i suggest in-ear plugs, because headphones will look ridiculous regardless of the model, just some models look less ridiculous than others

Read the headphone FAQ on the Audio/Video board, it has recommendations of good headphones.

The Sennheisers are awesome. I've used them in a 120dB+ enviorment for my camera work.

I've not tried them but I'd bet they're so popular and expensive purely because of the label. It's amazing what celebs can do. When buying headphones I always stick to Sennheiser as they sound the best to me and are affordable.

Beat's by Dre are not worth it, no neither are any other rapper or celebrity endorsed headphone for that matter (with a few exceptions). I would recommend the Audio Technica ATH-M50's or the V-Moda M80's over the Beats, they have far better sound quality, build quality, design, and are far less expensive.

You are right but the exception I would like to point out which I have heard nothing but good things about is the AKG Q701's which are endorsed by Quincy Jones. This is not a profit money grab either since a portion of the proceeds go to Jones's foundation which aims to make music education 'an ongoing part of the lives of American children'. But then again, Quincy Jones is also not an MTV and radio gangsta either.

Anything "Beats by Dr.Dre" is going to be marked up $50-100 for the name brand. Also, there have been people testing the sound quality out of the headphones, and they report it's nothing but a built in equalizer.

$50-$100? More like marked up $150-$250.
