yeah so i'm relatively familar with what to look for in a HD TV, i've had mine for a while now and i got it when plasma's were the unquestioned rulers of TV land, however i'm looking at getting a new HD TV, going with around 42 inches and i'd like it to be outputting at least 720p resolution, happy not having it any higher than that

Now comes the question, which would be better, LCD or Plasma? i want it simply for gaming

I was going to write something, but found this article and thought it would be better: http://www.projectorpeople.com/resources/lcd-plasma-projector.asp

I will add though that I have an LCD that looks great, although I do notice that while playing 2D games (or 2D-esque games, like LittleBigPlanet) the picture can be blurry while in motion. Not sure if this is true of all LCD's, plasma's, or just my TV.

It's my understanding that at that size and up, plasma is the way to go. Most of them should have HDMI, DVI, etc.

That's the standard. I haven't seen an HDTV without a few HDMI inputs and some other connectivities.

Plasma. Panasonic Vieras are good and relatively cheap.

I use my computer screen for everything. I do not watch hardly any tv and when I do watch any it's the news. I occasionally play my xbox 360, but I even have an adapter for that so I can use my computer screen.
