I use cans at home, buds on the road.
I prefer the in-ear variety when I'm out...simply because I can take them out, roll the cord up, tuck it in a little cloth pouch, and stick it in my pocket. I've had god knows how many over ear headphones break on me because they got squished in my backpack. That and in-ear ones block a lot of ambient noise, and offer better sound reproduction.
At home, where size isn't an issue, I have a big pair of closed studio headphones. I used to have an open pair, but...well, I'm not too sure what the advantage is supposed to be. They leak in all the surrounding noise which destroys the whole purpose of wearing headphones in the first place.

That's one thing that drives me crazy when I take the bus to university - there are generally half a dozen people (at least) wearing white iPod headphones, and I want to run around and rip them off peoples' heads. They sound terrible. I didn't realize how awful they sounded and how uncomfortable they were until I got my own iPod. I used the headphones for about thirty seconds and then dumped them.
Seriously, people spend hundreds of dollars on an iPod and can't be bothered to buy a decent $20-$30 pair of headphones? The stock things are like listening to your music through a gramophone.

I think iPod earbuds are some of the best headphones I've ever used, and I've got a keen ear too. They sound much better than my more expensive Sonys.[QUOTE="staindcoldlp"]I hate iPod headphoneDJ_Lae

$20-$30 gets you less than decent for headphones.[QUOTE="NrGcHaRgE021"]$20-$30 gets you less than decent for headphones.DJ_Lae
It gets you a pair of Panasonic HJE50s or Sony EX51s, both of which are about ten times better than the stock iPod headphones.
I had the EX71SLs and they were quite possibly the worst headphones ive used (besides the iCrap buds). Sony purposely makes the chord extremely thin. Both mine and my brother's pair snapped. Spend ~75-80 and get the Shure E2Cs.Please Log In to post.
