this is for those of you who like the bands who just essentially scream into the mike for the entire song. my question to you is do you actually consider that talent or just endurance? also i dont mean screaming lyrics i mean just screaming.

Its a little of both, especially if the band tours a lot. But I don't like bands that just scream into the microphone, that gets a little irritating.blooddemon666
yeah i dont like it either but i was kinda forced to listen to it today and people were trying to convince me of how musically talented these guys are for being able to scream into a microphone

I can say that it adds something to the music, but the whole song? no thanks.

Name a band that you think screams, because some bands that I like my mom considers screaming, but I don't.blackngold29
dude i honestly dont know the name of these bands but trust me when i say they were screaming even the people who liked them were saying they can barely understand them
it all seemed to kind of blend together

Just because you can't understand it doesn't make it screaming. Dream Theater never screams and it usually takes me a few listens to figure out what they are saying.[QUOTE="blooddemon666"]Its a little of both, especially if the band tours a lot. This isn't opera. If you're focusing to vocals, you're in the wrong genre.
I really don't know or listen to any bands that just scream into the mic. But the people that growl/scream are talented IMO, I mean you try it for anything longer than a minute. Your throat will bleed :P
Bands I'm talking about: Nile, Cryptopsy (Lord Worm), Dying Fetus.

I might need to double check my pocket dictionary, but I'm pretty sure thats a oxymoron.
I'm not sure I should really take a Halo fan's opinion to validate my own in matters of metal. So thanks, but no thanks.
I do not.do you consider this to be screaming?

I don't listen to the people that just scream the whole song. I don't like it.
Your opinion of what screaming is and what it isn't might be different then mine though. Care to tell us what band you were listening to?
I hate screaming bands. I can take a tasteful growl or shout but screaming/pig squealing just isn't music to me.AirGuitarist87
Yup I feel the same.

Both, I take it not as "Screaming" but using your throat as an intrument to blend in perfectly into the mood of the song. I call it a growl.. It's something "most" newer bands fail to do right. Listen to Death's "Human" album, Obituary's "Cause of Death", or Carcass' "Necrotism" to namea few.Efielret
Every one of those bands names have something to do with dying: Death, Obituary, Carcass..
Is metal the new emo?
