hey guys yesterday my itouch was jacked out of my car with my oakleys and recently bought red dead redemption. gotta love the people of this world these days.

Anyhow im trying to decide if i should got back to the itouch or go ipod classic. I never used the wifi on my itouch, basically all i use my ipod for is in my car or when im working outside. btw i work lawn service so do you think that the classic is the way to go because its more durable?

Also should i buy my next ipod off of apples online store or at bestbuy? Or does anyone have a good store online that would sell these cheap?

How much music do you have? Unless you have dozen(s) gigabytes of music, there's no reason to buy Classic. But if you have tons of music, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Classic. I've used mine for three(?) years now and it still works like beauty. And I really need the space. It's also handy as a storage space if you decide to reformat your PC. Out of all iPods, it has the best sound quality, but playing music is the only thing it's good for. But at least for me, that's what an iPod is all about.

if you don't NEED a touch screen, just go with one of the nanos. I think by classic you mean one of those thicker, big ones. Too heavy to jostle around in your pocket while you do yard work, IMO. Since apple just came out with the new generation recently that have cameras (which I doubt is something you really want/need) look for clearouts online or in stores of the older generation ones that have no camera. They're the exact same, but will probably save you a good amount of money.

Buy an iphone instead it has the great conviniences of both an ipod and a phone! also its like a mini computer/gameboy/app crazy device. oh and its more durable and i heard you get a slight discount buying the ipgone or itouch from the online store, dont know for sure though, never peeked.

well I'd say go with the iPod classic if you don't care about a touch screen, the touch is just cooler. the classic is definitely more durable, plus they have more GB. it doesn't make much of a difference where you buy it if you're buying them brand new but you could always look on Craigslist or something if you would wanna get a cheaper used one. you just have to be careful and not accidentally buy something that doesn't work.

In your case I'd probably go for a Nano too like the poster said. I have a Classic and it's wonderful for me, just because I have so much music. If you have a lot of music, or want to put a lot of videos on your iPod than the Classic is for you, but if you got like 10-15GB of music and no plans to add movies or such just get the Nano.

Well how about the shuffle? It won't get broken and is only $60. If you only want music I would get this.

I was going to recommend Nano as well but then I thought that such a small device won't be handy in a car. The screen and click wheel are so small that it will require your full attention to use it. Not exactly safe to have on the road. I haven't had any problems using my Classic outdoors. Okay, that's a lie. I definitely wouldn't mind it being smaller but I can manage. It comes down to whether you want to have all your music with you.

If you really want an iPod, I'd say go with classic; especially since you're not using the touch features. I'd say the touch is more likely to have problems. However, I hated my iPod when I had one. I found a 30gb Zune brand new for $100 on Buy.com (doubt they still have it, this was years ago). I'd suggest going with something like that.
