ok, so its about 2 yrs old.

it keeps getting disconnected, not even showing in the bios. then when i wiggle some wires, it shows up again. then it just randomly disconnects, either in windows, or before startup.

Till here was the problem with my old hd as well ( which eventually, after 7yrs, failed btw).

and now, of late, new hd shows in bios, shows in device manager, but not in my computer. then when i scan for recent changes in hardware, it shows. then randomly disconnnects, and no longer shows in device manager.

pls help, it is unlikely to be a hd failure as the hd is fairly new, and hardly used at all for the past 2 yrs...

thanks a bunch

PS: again ,it a western digital 5000aaads manufactured in august 2010 if it matters

Yep go to Hardware discussion. But if you don't want to go there, let me tell you now. Go out a buy a new drive before you lose all your data. Your drive is beginning to fail. I've had multiple WD drives crap out on me. They are massed produced so there is always the chance you get a bad drive.
