I'am looking for a cool sci-fi or adventure story to read. I was thinking of something along the lines of like something even a movie is based off of, like 2001 or Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Is that a good book?

I was going to recommend Flowers For Algernon. I haven't read 2001 or DADoES.

Quite possibly the best science fiction series ever written is Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.

If you enjoy humor read the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy

If you don't enjoy humor read the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy and by the end of the book you will like humor

This. I'm a terrible book reader, even though I enjoy them. I couldn't read a 300 page book in a month because I was too lazy. But when I started Enders Game, I was hooked. I read 100 pages in one night. Very good book.

adventure you say? start getting into the lord of the rings and other books set in middle earth. even if youve already read the hobbit and trilogy, there is still the children of hurin which i think is even better.

It's a short story, though it's usually found in collections of Lovecraft's stories. If you're into scary stories, then you should definitely check him out

It's not a book it is a short story and isn't sci-fi, it is horror. Author is HP Lovecraft. He's good, but he doesn't have novels. All his books are collections of short stories.

DADoES is nothing like the movie Blade Runner, so don't go in expecting that. It isn't all futuristic sci-fi either, more post-apocalyptic. I thought it was decent but not amazing.

Dune is a good one. I'm reading it right now (albeit slowly).

Only one I can recommend is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series.

Eh, someone beat me to it.

Some good sci-fi / adventure books are Prey and Sphere by Micheal Crichton and if you can handle a bit of gore, Infected and Contagious by Scott Sigler.
