help with "cyclic redundancy check"

im instalin Oblivion and this error message come up halfway. how do u uninstall a programme completely is there any software that does it for u cos now the comp think oblivion is installed in my comp but i cant play it or uninstall it.

Just delete the files; is this an legal copy? If so, it sounds like you got bad media if the checksum failed. contact Bethesda tech support and see what they say.

i had a problem like this on a computer before with oblivion, never found out what it was but it worked on another PC

delete all the files in "program files", then any user files in "my documents", then delete it from your desktop and start menu, then run CCleaner to finish the job and fix the registaries

A "cyclic redundancy check" error is more often than not caused by a scratched or damaged disk. If the damage is minor, try this:

your hdd may be physically destroyed. I suffer from that problem. Start backing things up

keyword: MAY, as in MAY be physically destroyed

The disk may be scratched/damaged or the drive could be having problems reading it.

Verify that the disk is clean/scratch free, if it is try another DVD drive or try changing the transfer mode of the drive to PIO only mode.
