When I download videos off YouTube using RealPlayer to download a file, I get 1 of 2 scenarios: 1 -- If the file downloaded is an .flv file, then it downloads without a problem. 2 -- If the file is an mpeg-4 file, then once the download is complete, it will show an additional file beside it with the same name as the downloaded file, but with the extension of .meta. And when I play the .mpeg-4 file, it suffers from some frame rate issues, sometimes being really bad. I've tried converting the .mpeg-4 file to a wmv file, but that didn't work, because it also transfers over the frame rate issues to the .wmv file. If, however, I go into the browser cache and pull out the .mpeg-4 file that was streamed, it will usually suffer from blurriness, as opposed to frame rate issues. So either way, there seems to be a problem with my ability to play .mpeg-4 files. Is there any way for me to fix it so that when I download an .mpeg-4 file, it saves it normally, just like the .flv files do? Thanks bunches, sexies.

If you're talking about downloading Youtube videos, you have to buy them now, like iTunes. :?

Try to test on mp4 file you download from keepvid, if you got then the same problem. then it is more likely to do with mp4 codec, in that case use a software that support mp4 codec (such as itunes) or google and download mp4 codec for windows media player. (make sure you get it from clean site). otherwise, might be realplayer issue when downloading, though I doubt it . the .meta probably extra information about the file such as title, location ..etc

Well, if the video can be embedded, then I don't see why it should be illegal, since youtube gives the functionality to download and embed the video. the author can disable that.
