I like the second pict. I used to draw a bit here and there at my art class in HS, and Imo the best way to improve is to see the original art more ex:watch the cartoon/anime more that you want to draw so you get a better picture in your head with the proportions. Get darker lead too that helps with contrast and brings it to life.
Alright lets see.
The first one is un proportional but the anatomy seems ok. Arm length seems to be good. So yah :P I don't like to critique people's work because I believe everyones pieces are great if you put dedication. But if you want serious critiques, go to Conceptart.org. Pros go to the site then chat and show off there work(totally different from DeviantArt)
I got the book "Draw Real People!" by Lee Hammond when I was younger and liked to draw... it helped me greatly. Even if realistic drawing isn't your style, you can still apply the same principles to match your style. It's a fantastic book. Here are some pictures from inside:
That is true. Lots of people prefer anime over realism but to draw anime you need to know realism. TC, I have some great book recommendations that I have used for my art studies.I got the book "Draw Real People!" by Lee Hammond when I was younger and liked to draw... it helped me greatly. Thanks for showing that. I also think it's really good that you showed the "before and after" pictures. That shows that with a lot of practice, it doesn't take long for one's work to improve significantly.
I think there's this sort of notion out there that drawing is something that "you can either do, or you'll never be able to do", and I think that discourages a lot of people from even trying.

And it's 100% realistic that you can improve that much in not too much time. I drew a picture of George Washington that looked similar to the first Tom Cruise picture... then I read the book and practiced, and drew George Washington again, and it looks almost as good as the second Tom Cruise photo. Even I was surprised at how realistic it looked and I couldn't stop looking at it. I couldn't believe I actually drew that.It needs darker outline for the first pic and the outlines should be less crooked, the second pic is much better, but try to make the colours more refined.
You sure must try this site . I love that Witcher 2 piece. It needs darker outline for the first pic and the outlines should be less crooked, the second pic is much better, but try to make the colours more refined.
