I am surprised at how many men still hold onto the belief that there is some God-given purpose that a woman could only be of a service to a man. There's plenty of reason to suggest that women are inferior to men in many ways, and perhaps you can also say that women are better in these roles, only if you still support their freedom to pursue something else if in the event it suits them better. With some people, however, I feel as though they think the role of a woman should be mandatory for each and everyone of them as their only purpose to be of service to man and God. The former is quite sickening. Even then, the latter holds no importance because how often do you imagine the typical housewife caring to the house of God? She can't. Instead she must somehow simultaneously strenghten her belief in God while submissing herself into man, which if I remember correctly from Psalm 118:8, is clearly not recommendable in the slightest.

What are your thoughts?

I agree with you, but this is something that will probably take centuries to go away, if at all. Honestly, since women are bilogically -I shall say- smaller, they weren't valued as much, and such thoughts have survived time. Sexism is just something that needs to be overcome, just like all other forms of prejudism.

Human males are biologically stronger than women, but that doesn't make them better humans. Many sexist men tend not to make that connection. From that point on, it simply becomes a matter of superiority-inferiority, and people will always view something different than they are as bad.

Besides, some men like the dominant aspects of controlling other people--women in particular.

Yeah, this sort of thinking has been around for a while, and I doubt it will go away soon. Probably the reason some men think like this is because of tradition.

Yeah, that's pretty much the opposite of me. I'll admit, I'm a total sucker if a girl wants something. Most of the girls in my class know how to play me like a fiddle. I end up serving women 75% of the time.

Although the views of sexist men aren't going to change. We can only hope that over time, people just stop believing the whole load of BS that women aren't as good as men.

Xeros606

It may sound random by how I addressed it. It is indeed. The thought didn't come to me until perhaps within five minutes before making this thread. I do not want to go into detail for personal reasons.

Women were inferior in the past, but I don't think that should mean men should hold onto that structure. Likewise, I don't think they should reverse the cycle when there's no need.

-Jiggles-

Another thing to point out is that not all human males are stronger than females. While speaking in generality, this is true, but let's not rule out that there are many exceptions.

You'd be surprised how many fundamentalist Christians believe that they should serve their husbands and that feminists are of the devil.

Edit:

"Feminists have to be the most frustrated women in the world, we were created as a vessel being to recieve, men were created as vessels to give.

The ideaology of feminism is from the enemy and comes to kill, steal and destroy.

abortion kills, homosexuality steals natural affections, and same sex marriages destroys the normal family unit,

these are the main issues of feminism, silly women have tried to usurp power that does not belong to them instead of using the God given power that they possess spiritually,

MY Place is beside the man that God gives me to, we are to be one, male authority came about because of sin, those joined together by God are to not be torn asunder, they walk as one."

Quote from an actual woman.

There are many factors that we could cover that elicits the discrimination that women have suffered through for the past 5,000 or more years. Although things have gotten a lot better in the past two centuries (women suffrage, increase in employment, etc), there are still some walls that have yet to be broken down.

I have been dating a feminist-elitist girlfriend for almost 3 years now; trust me when I say that I know a lot about the issue. lol

Many people say that women do well in a kitchen. I won't argue that. However, there is no pre-ordained duty that a woman has from the moment she is born. Everyone is unique and everyone can find their own purpose. They don't need power-hungry men to say otherwise.

You'd be surprised how many fundamentalist Christians believe that they should serve their husbands and that feminists are of the devil.

Red-XIII

It's not even Christian. It's anti-Christian. A woman would best be a servant to God than to man, but in some scenarios I see women treat men better than men treat God. In fact, it confirms to me that either (a) God doesn't exist or (b) men don't treat him seriously. I won't argue the former so that leaves the latter.

Well discrimination won't ever leave when people only focus on the political discrimination,

Ignoring the obvious porn industry and its influence, or women who degrade themselves by being pornstars/topless/trying to appeal sexually...

Both sides are pretty much to blame for this inequality, politically yes men to begin with but if you look at how today media society consists off its from both sides...

Extreme feminist groups look down upon men its not like that is hardly any better...

I am all up for equality

i agree with you, but sometimes it goes too far the other way where women think that 50% of men should quit work to look after a baby even though they're quite obviously inferior at the job due to the lack of breasts.

EDIT:

I did see a documentry about submissive wives though and it seemed to help them. There were couples that were always fighting so they decided to follow a program where the wife does what she's told. For them it worked as they were argueing so much it ment they were both happyer if the wife just did what she was told and when the husband was satisfied he didn't mind the wife doing what she wanted, so they both got more of what they wanted from life.

Women were very mistaken when they decided that because they didn't work in the "official" work place that they were being beaten down and inferior. Its almost as if women feel that they need to outdue men at things that men are just built to handle better to prove that they are free. Now double income households are almost mandatory, the family has deteriorated, and the morals of the country are decaying! All so a woman now has to work three jobs a day to support her and her family.

I have no respect for some women and lot's of respect for others (and loads for one in particular  ), just like men, I have no respect for some men and lot's for others (but not one that I have extra huge amounts of respect for of course  ) so men and women are equal, both 'groups' have good and bad members.

It dates all the way back to when we were cave people. Men and women naturally had specific tasks. In this species, generally speaking the male is more dominant.

See you would have a point except that the Bible asks that men also submit to their wives and that both must fall at the feet of Jesus. It is a two way street in a relationship. While the roles may be different, depending on the relati onship both have an obligation to the other, and more importantly to Jesus.

Many forget that this discrimination works both ways... if a woman's place is in the kitchen, then a man's place is in the workplace, garage, etc...

Being able to progress in this aspect not only enables women to enter the workforce, but it also makes it okay for men to be cooks, designers, tailors, stay at home dads, etc -- people will still have that stigma that "oh no way can a man be straight and be a fashion designer" but for those who dont, good for you.

Islam has little to do with it.. Its the social advancement for the culture.. Women really only got equal rights in the past hundred years in the "advanced western nations" which were around for thousands of years as well.

Yes. It's called steroids.

And it's scientifically proven that men are, genetically, stronger than women on average. That doesn't mean that there aren't any woman who are physically stronger than other men here and there.

I agree with ur statement. If women was ment to be the hunters and dominate they would be the one who gains muscle has they grow up.yea some women are stronger then man, but that is rare.(I am not sexiest by the way.) I have a question. In the bible does it say women should obey man in there any where?I think it does, but i am not sure.

No, Have you saw a biological stronger Woman than men?

Yes. It's called steroids.

And it's scientifically proven that men are, genetically, stronger than women on average. That doesn't mean that there aren't any woman who are physically stronger than other men here and there.

Not her..
