Anyone else feel this way? Highschool to me was much more laid back, a little more relaxing and easier going, plus it was more like hanging out with friends, having fun classes, teachers that were actually approachable and that you could talk to on a personal level, and gym class owned, you got to play soccer, tennis or whatever else sport for 1 hour a day with your pals. Now in college for 2 years, classes are harder, much larger work load, hanging out with friends is super limited due to having a 17 out of 18 credit class load, some professors are alright, but some are just total whackos that dont know what they are talking about. And no more gym class. Plus you have to pay for this all!

I think they both have their pros and cons. High school was a lot more laid back but you had a lot less freedom than college.

Being in the UK it's worth noting that College is different from Uni, but that aside I liked it much more than school, my current Uni I hate, but I hope to change that.

That whole freedom thing, I dunno, my parents were pretty trusting of me after like I turned 17 or so. Like they wouldnt mind if I stayed out one week night till like 11 or whatever, or if I had my homework done for the most part, they wouldnt mind letting me go out on the lake with my friends, driving places, my parents more or less let me come and go as I pleased, I mean I just called them to let them know what was up like if I was gone all day every 6 hours or whatever, or when I was going to be home for dinner...just common courtesy stuff. So I guess that whole freedom thing of college really didnt hit me as hard as most other kids.

I like college a lot more. You meet new people almost every single day, I have more free time since I only have like 2 classes a day, there are many more parties, there are tons more extracurricular activites, college sports, etc.

And you said you don't have gym cl.asses nymore... I can take basketball, soccer, flag football, etc. as electives at my college... plus you can go to the gym and workout whenever you want or use an indoor basketball court whenever you want, and there are intramural sports ranging from baseball, softball, basketball, football, etc...

College >>> High School

I personally think that it depends on your major. I'm planning on majoring in Arts & Communtications, and minoring in English. But I guess I'll see for myself in the fall of 2010 which is better. :P

College was and still is the best time of my life. High School was a joke compared to college. I learned a lot more about myself, gained important life lessons, made lifelong friends, and studied a subject that I have the utmost passion for. High school was about going to lame dances, cafeteria politics, and teachers that didn't care if they were teaching anything or not.

No.

I didn't do or learn much in high school, and I graduated with honors and an A gpa. It was constantly filled with busy work and arbitrary teachers who tried their hardest to be like college professors to make themselves feel superior.

Once i got to college, I found out professors generally care about their students, and they will work with you to help you pass. They are also open to giving extensions on assignments and changing your test grades, etc....you just have to communicate with them state your case. College is way more laid back.

High school is also filled with people who think that everyone has to belong to a certain group, or that everyone has to be labeled in some way. Then they base who they develop relationships with off of those labels and groups. It's probably the most counter-productive social phenomenon that exists.

I hated high school.  College is awesome though.  If you didn't act a certain way or something it was hell.  At least that's the way it is around here.  Everyone is so judgmental in high school, in college they just don't care.

I'm sure it also has to do with the college you go to. I'm almost 100% positive that not all colleges are like the one you went to.

Highschool was crap. I think highschool is just day time prison where you are indoctrinated into the church of government. Of course highschool is eaiser, it's run by the government there's no inctetive to make sure you're learning anything. College is easy the only thing I don't like about it is all the socialist professors incorporating their political agendas into the curriculum.

I've been in 3 different colleges. Some were difficult, and some were easier...but there was always the element of communication with professors, and mostly friendly students.

Welcome to college. You learn to deal with it and feed them what they want after a while.

Nope...College is easier for me.... The tests are much easier but maybe that is because I study. Also the teachers don't mess around as much, they get down to business...The classes aren't filled with tards who don't want to be there. There are zero fights, hardly any drugs, no drama...No graffiti in the restrooms... Sure you have no free time, especially if you work 26 hours over the weekends but it's not too bad. It's spring break now and I'm loving it. Also you don't have to take stupid classes you don't want.... You learn a lot more and there is less "busy work". In high school a lot of the times the teachers would get too drunk over the weekend so they'd give you like three days just doing worksheets in class and some bullcrap. The people are more diverse and open minded... And I have gym class (at Penn State, York campus)....I'm in Golf II right now and then I'm done with gym classes (only need two semesters totally 3 credits). I love it.

Most all my classes I spend about half the time arguing with the professor. They aren't used to students questioning their "authority".

Um, college is 100x better than high school. The ratio of having a good time to study time depends on what you are studying and how good you are at learning and retaining new information. If you aren't studying crazy *** **** you have tons of free time in college. TONS. I mean its a different story if you are planning on going to med or law school or trying to become an engineer. Chances are that if you are doing that you actually enjoy school. To a lot of people college is more about the social interaction than the education. Its more about growing up than getting a degree.

:? My high school isn't laid back. It's more uptight and just sucky. I don't like high school and I dread it most of the time. People don't like me there and I rather graduate so I can go to college. It also sucks more that my College English II teacher keeps trying to fail me and losing my assignments that I hand in, then accusing me of not turning them in. I know one day that she is going to tell me to be more responsible...the irony that will be.

I guess it depends on your school. I loved my high school days and all, but I put them behind me. They were fun, but I'm enjoying growing up (even though its not happening very quick). Besides all of my proffersors are appraochable and all my classes are small, so I guess I don't have the same problems with university, but I did enjoy high school. At the end of the day I'd rather work 3 times as hard and not have to put up with the lower intelligence in high school.

College > High School, by far. Schedule is more flexiable...students tend to be lot more "grown-up" (respectful, nice) in comparison...place, to be simple, it lot more clean...resources are plentyful.... In general, there are simply lot more options in college.....including, most important of all, the sheer amount of bathrooms that were around the campus.......

Not if you are taking 5 classes. And thats the only way I would get out in 4 years. So 5 classes, plus 2 discussions = 7 actual classes.
