Reichstag fire

The Reichstag fire was a pivotal event in the establishment of Nazi Germany. At 21:15 on the night of February 27, 1933, a Berlin fire station received an alarm call that the Reichstag building, the assembly location of the German Parliament, was ablaze. The fire seemed to have been started in several places, and by the time the police and firemen arrived the main Chamber of Deputies was in flames. Looking for clues, the police quickly found Marinus van der Lubbe, shirtless, inside the building. Van der Lubbe was a Dutch insurrectionist council communist and unemployed bricklayer who had recently arrived in Germany. Hitler used this as evidence that the communists were plotting against his government. That night Van der Lubbe and 4000 Communist leaders were arrested.Hitlerforced President Hindenburg to pass an 'emergency decree' suspending all articles that guaranteed freedom and liberty. Hitler's police were then allowed to seize property and take people without any sort of trial. The death penalty was introduced again for many crimes and concentration camps were set up. The Nazis' twelve year terror over their opponents had started.

The party leaders were determined to demonstrate the Reichstag Fire was a deed of the Comintern, and in early March 1933, three men were arrested who were to play pivotal roles during the Leipzig Trial, known also as "Reichstag Fire Trial," namely three Bulgarians: Georgi Dimitrov, Vasil Tanev and Blagoi Popov. The Bulgarians were known to the Prussian policeas senior Comintern operatives, but the police had no idea how senior they were: Dimitrov was head of all Comintern operations in Western Europe.

Kinda Looks Similar to This

The September 11, 2001 attacks (often referred to as 9/11-pronounced "nine eleven") consisted of a series of coordinated terrorist[2] suicide attacks by Islamic extremists on the United States of America on September 11, 2001.

It is believed that the attacks were originally planned to be executed between March and September 2000[3] but eventually occurred on the morning of September 11, 2001, when nineteen terrorists[4] affiliated with al-Qaeda[5] hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. Each team of hijackers included a trained pilot. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners (United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11) into the World Trade Center in New York City, one plane into each tower (1 WTC and 2 WTC), resulting in the collapse of both buildings soon afterward and irreparable damage to nearby buildings. The hijackers crashed a third airliner (American Airlines Flight 77) into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. Passengers and members of the flight crew on the fourth aircraft (United Airlines Flight 93) attempted to retake control of their plane from the hijackers;[6] that plane crashed into a field near the town of Shanksville in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania. In addition to the 19 hijackers, 2,973 people died; another 24 are missing and presumed dead. The victims were predominantly civilians.

Patriot Act, is an American act which President George W. Bush signed into law on October 26, 2001.

Passed with minimal debate only 45 days after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, New York, the Act (full text) dramatically expanded the authority of U.S. law enforcement agencies for the stated purpose of fighting terrorism in the United States and abroad. Among its many provisions, the act increased the ability of law enforcement agencies to search telephone and email communications and medical, financial, and other records; eased restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States; expanded the Secretary of the Treasury's authority to regulate financial transactions, particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities; and enhanced the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities in detaining and deporting immigrants suspected of terrorism. The act also expanded the definition of terrorism to include "domestic terrorism," thus enlarging the number of activities to which the Patriot Act's expanded law enforcement powers can be applied

The War on Terrorism (also known as the War on Terror) is an umbrella term coined by the Bush administration to refer to the various military, political, and legal actions taken to "curb the spread of terrorism" following the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. Both the phrase "War on Terrorism" and the policies it denotes have been a source of ongoing controversy, as critics argue it has been used to justify unilateral preemptive war, perpetual war, human rights abuses, and other violations of international law.[

[edit] Double standards

Others have criticized the perceived double standards of the U.S. when dealing with countries known to support terrorism, but are yet key allies, like Pakistan. Apart from India and several states like UK stating that Pakistan is involved in state sponsored terrorism in Kashmir, and Afghan President Hamid Karzai has repeatedly stated that in the war against terrorism, "the central front is Pakistan", and several eminent authors stating that Pakistan was covertly supporting the Taliban via the ISI.[27] Furthermore, critics point out that the U.S., while claiming that the spread of democracy is essential to winning the war on Terrorism, continues to work with governments with a poor record of democracy.[28] According to the Federation of American Scientists, "In its haste to strengthen the "frontline" states' ability to confront transnational terrorist threats on their soil, and to gain the cooperation of regimes of geostrategic significance to the next phases of the "War on Terrorism", the administration is disregarding normative restrictions on U.S. aid to human rights abusers."

We're no better then Nazi Germany

I like your screen name.:|

And here is the difference between Nazi Germany and America: Germany killed millions and stole and lied and killed some more, mercilessly, for no reason other than prejudicsm and world domination.

America was attacked, without warning and without mercy, had thousands killed and hundreds more following, with threats of more attacks on the way.

Seems to me that it is they who are more like the Nazis.

The biggest difference between Nazi Germany and America is that we kicked their ass. Seriously though I hate the 9/11 conspiracies, our country was attacked by terrorist we had nothing to do with it.

The difference between the present US and Nazi Germany is that in the US it's okay to make crazy conspiracies that liken the US to Nazi Germany.

What's that one principle that says that as an Internet debate goes on, the probability of comparing something or someone to Hitler approaches one?

Well, I just read through that whole thing. Using fear to manipulate politics isn't such a news, despite of how Mr. Conspiracy make look like it is such a huge discovery. This kind of stuff is everywhere.

Take global warming, for example. This is how UN is trying to scare the crap out of everyone... if you don't do blah blah blah, the world is going to end! UN is trying to come up with a global tax that is based on the individual's carbon emission. Think about it, who the heck doesn't generate some kind of carbon emission? UN wants to measure everyone's life in the world and collect money from it... is our world doing worse as far as environmentalism is concerned? Definitely, but the governments of the world unite together not to help the issue, but to make a huge profit out of it.

How did you think the world was run before this so-called democracy starting to pop everywhere? It was ruled by kings and emperors. These individuals once held absolute power and can kill any peasants they want... now that's power. Power, in its essence, can only be enforced through fear. People fear the punishment of laws therefore they stay checked. How else do you think United States operate without having a cop in every household?

People fear that other nations will outpace them so they work hard. Every nation's leaders and politicians use fear as a tool. There is no right and wrong about it. This is how the world operates.

Uhh, Germany was attacked too... The whole reason they were pissed was because of the Treaty of Versailles.
