Hollywood Ruins Yet Another Beloved Classic Story?

This December, Twentieth Century Fox will release a modern version of Jonathon Swift's classic tale, "Gulliver's Travels" starring Jack Black. No, it is not quite too horrible to be true. I don't understand the point of a modern re-imagining of this. It takes away much of the original story's charm as Jack Black "brings them modern-day wonders like a PDA and music video games", but I suppose still manages to keep some of the original intent "while they help him learn that it's how big you are on the inside that counts." We'll just have to wait and see.

I really hope this doesn't end up like some of Hollywood's other re-imagining of great classic tales.

I agree it does look like this could be a HUGE dissapointment.

One thing I noticed about the trailer is that it's horribly edited. It's a 2 minute, 20 second trailer, yet you don't see anything relating to the original story until you're a minute and a half in. It feels like you already sat through half the movie.

I'd have to agree. I saw the trailer a while ago and it looked pretty awful. Hope this doesn't ruin Jack Black's career.

Wow its really odd seeing Gulliver's Travels like this... but I think I feel like seeing it... AND JASON SEGEL IS IN IT. I love Jason Segel. I think I'll watch this movie.

But in response to the TC, I don't think this would ruin the classic story. But from now on, when high schoolers are forced to read the original book they'll be like "dude this is boring" (as if they don't already)

I'm gonna see it because I love Jack Black, he's hilarious. I also want to see it because I haven't seen JB in a movie since Be Kind Rewind.

Awful trailer for a most likely awful movie, with an awful actor.

Damn it, Jack Black should stick to lending his voice; I have never been able to stomach that guy "acting". Gulliver's travels were my bedtime stories, I'm glad to know that I'm not forced to see it.

Jack Black isn't very funny. This is gonna suck.
