Just seen the movie(the re-mastered version), and I can really see why people say its one of the best war movies.Such amazing detail, set pieces, and cinematography, I can't think of any other movie that has drew me in this much.Probably #1 on my top movies list, go see it now.dominerok i will but there better be some action in there i just watched taking chance cause it was a war movie and there was absolutely no action at all.
meh.it's overratedesbasticaSo's your face. :x Seriously though, it's my favourite war movie and somewhere in my top ten movies list. It really is awesome.
I can appreciate the film, but similar to The Deer Hunter it took me about four sittings to complete it due to how bored it made me.DJ_LaeYou're crazy... it's not incredibly fast-paced but at least it keeps your attention... whereas The Deer Hunter caught me daydreaming countless times.

In its defense I liked the original version of Apocalypse Now more than the Redux, which is unnecessarily long. None of the new scenes add much.

The Deer Hunter was waaaay better.
I mainly don't like Apocalypse Now because I do not like Marlon Brando. Other than his parts it's a great movie.

I think my dream was better than The Deer Hunter... probably why I kept going back to it. :lol:Apocalypse Now is wicked. I recommend the original for first viewing, and then watch the Redux if you enjoyed it. It's an excellent movie - but sadly goes over many people's head. Anyone who thinks its boring really hasn't seen a boring movie.GodLovesDeadI don't see how a movie like that can go over anyone's head though--it's not supposed to be defining or referring to any specific concept or anything. It's not that high-brow, really.

The movie was shown in my class room and most kids didn't even really get what it was about.
Explain how, please.[QUOTE="-Misanthropic-"][QUOTE="esbastica"]meh.it's overratedbarcx17
Cause of its popularity. We all know that if a lot of people like it, it automatically means its overrated
Word.
I really hate the mis-use of "overrated" around here.

The first time I saw it with a few friends I was blown away at the depth of the film which apparently only I picked up on out of my friends. Too many people pass it off as just a extremely high budget war flick.

fact that it didn't win Best Picture is still quite possibly the greatest screwjob in Oscar history.Paladin_KingWhat about Crash?

Interesting thing is that during our Vientman Veteran assembly, the vets recommended We Were Soldiers over any other Vietnam movie.

Or Taxi Driver?
I loved Apocalypse Now, BTW.
