Hooters... In Norway

Sometime ago i read an article about the Amarican restaurantchain Hooters is expanding into Norway, starting with one restaurant some where in rogaland.I personally did not pay it any mind (I don't eat out that much, and if i do, It's usually Italian or Taiwan food, besides; i Just wanted to skip to the comics.)

Howewer this created quitea fuzz. Apparently guests at Hooters are served by attractive, scantily-clad female waitresses.This created quite a large debate on how Hooters was discriminating Women, reducing them to sex objects, etc. Local politicians wanted to ban it and there were quite a dabate inthe Newspapers comments sections.

I was neutral in this case and i also know little about Hooters in general,but i wanted to hear a little thougths from you who have expirienced Hooters as apparently it's fairly big in the U.S.

Is it in anyway discriminating women? Is this worth the debate? Would you recommend going there? And most importanly!: How good is the food they offer!?

$4.50 for the smallest order of French Fries. That's all I gotta say.

The food sucks, in my experience. The only reason i went was because it was my buddy's birthday. The only reason most people go to Hooters is to drink, watch sports, and check out the waitress with big breast in tight shirts and short shorts.

I just don't know if they will get alot of that sort of business in norway. I've never been, but i'm just gonna guess that they're not very much like us

the food isn't anything special, it's good though. and yeah, there are no waiters, only waitresses, but i don't really see how any of these jobs that require you to be a hot women is discriminating. they aren't forced to take the job, they're doing it because it was their choice. if an ugly chick doesn't get the job because she's ugly, it's not discriminating, she just doesn't fit the job requirements. that'd be like a person that sucks at basketball complaining because an NBA team wouldn't let them play for the team.

And if the choice is between better food or waitresses in mini skirts..... Sorry, I prefer droooling over a good meal raiter than the waitresses serving me it.

are you sure youre not talking about the stripclub that recently opened in bergen, hordaland? its sure gotten a lot of attention in the local newspaper.. many protestors etc.. escapeoftheape

I'm talking about Hoooters, butAnything like that gets alot of fuzz around it. I think it's the conservatives causing the most of the debate.... Has KrF joined the debate?

We arent. We eat sheepheads, called"smalahove"for Dinner, Cities are almost non-existant es everyone lives in the woods where they organize raids against scotland and ireland and when we are not planning raids, wehunt polar bears... at nigth... in the midnigth sun.

Aiai the sarcasm detector went off. Anyway; We probably are a little different from you yes, but a frozen pizza is considered our national meal, so.... yea, i think hooters willget a few guests anyway.

Besides many of the norwegian youth in larger cities wants to copy american culture by becoming rappers, gangstas' etc.

I went to a Hooters for the first time a few months ago with two guys: a really nerdy guy and a gay guy...and then there was me, just your standard, everyday girl. We were by far the weirdest group in there that night. It was a funny night, but there's nothing remarkable about Hooters aside from the obvious. t3hrubikscube

Yes that's what puzzles me too. Why debate so much on Hooters when several other businesses do the same. Oh well it ain'tthat much of such things i Rogaland, i guess that's what fuels the debate on this.

I have never been...and i would never go there..

Judging by the responses to this Thread. I will never EVER find myself in a Hooters.
