Some people don't realize how much larger the sun, so here is a to scale comparison image: I had to use 2 images because one image would be too big:

Earth compared to jupiter:

Sun compared to jupiter:

Jupiter makes earth look tiny and the sun makes jupiter look tiny :?

Right you are. Perhaps your thread should be titled "How small is the earth compared to the sun?" instead of "How bigis the earth compared to the sun?"

Okay, now time to go make a science fair model where Earth is half of the size of the sun. For science!

If you really want to blow your mind, there is this thing out there that compares the sun to other stars in the universe, and it gets to the point in which stars that made our sun so small you cant see it, end up so small you cant see them compared to some stars out there.

Maybe it's like a giant brain and the galaxies are its neurons. Why are you looking at me like that?

There's stars that are 2,000 times larger than our sun. :)

Indeed. On average, the Earth is 150 million kilometers (93 million miles) away from the Sun. And the Sun itself is 1.392 million kilometers in diameter. The Earth is ~107 Sun diameters away.

What really blew my mind is the distance from the earth to the sun. I tried to make it with the sun only being about 200 pixels in diameter and I had to make the image like seventeen thousand pixels wide :?

Lets not carried get carried away here. Or we could start comparing the size of the sun and the galaxy. Which I'm sure is at least around 5 million times wider.

Yeah... That's to the closest star.. How about the star in the closes neighboorhood... What is it again. 4 lightyears away?
