How can delusions be so off yet be so real? You can have perfectly sane people go into delusions and then they think everyone is out to kill them. i think about that today and it takes alot for you to think like that since everybody points to the contrary. so how?

If a person thinks everyone is out to get them they aren't in the right of mind. Generally people who think things like that are Paranoid Schizophrenics or suffer from some other illness. I know a man who believes I'm with "the french mafia" and that he's living inside a tv show, he suffers from cocaine psychosis. To him his delusions are real enough he's threatened to kill those around him.

The brain doesn't "see" a difference between what we imagine and what is real. So if someones imagination is telling them something over and over, it's almost impossible for them to not believe it.

Because your brain identifies reality based entirely on percetion. If something is perceived, it is real in the perceiver's mind.

You only see reality as you perceive it. How do you know what you see as reality is actually reality? Is there actually one real reality? How do you know everybody else isn't just wrong?
