How can people be so cruel to animals ? T_T

So my parents just bought a couple of lobsters today and right now, they going to boil them...alive. They've been doing that every Saturday for a while now and it just makes me sick. How can they boil them to death is beyond me. They are supposed to taste better that way, or so I was told, but I could care less...that is just cruel. 2 of them are bleeding like hell and one of them is missing two legs...and now, they are going to be boiled to death :( Hell, even the KFC chickens dont die such a horrible and painful death. What is even more disturbing is how happy they look as they eat them...they dont feel bad at all for what they've done.

I'm not suggesting that we become vegeterian hippies, because I eat meat as well...However, I would never kill an animal myself and especially in such a horrible way :( Anybody feel me or do you all think im just a sissy ? :P

Isn't it pretty much an instant death for them? If so, then what's the problem.

edit: and don't forget if it had the chance, a lobster would kill you and your family at the drop of a hat.

If it bothers you, ask your parents to stick the lobsters in the freezer before they boil them. That way they'll just be in a coma-type state and won't feel any pain, assuming the do feel pain when placed in boiling water...Salvy41

It doesn't kill them, and I believe I heard somewhere that they don't feel the cold.. it merely puts them in a state of 'sleep'.

People in Western Europe and North America have become completely detached from their food sources, we have no real respect for the animals we consume on a daily basis.  I'm one of them, I personally have no desire to kill an animal, yet I eat meat, and wear leather.  Realistically, something like 60%-70% of all the meat you eat in the US probably comes from a factory farm, and the animals there lead a horrible life.  You can kind of think about it as the Matrix, without the virtual world to entertain yourself with.

Oh, come on.  We are so past "natural" you can't even use the "well nature says.." logic.  Strongest survive?  Then I guess we might aswell let genetically diseased people die, they are only carrying "weak" traits, right?  Hell, let's get rid of hospitals.  The strongest will surely make it to procreation.

I'm against cruelty when it comes to animals.

If anything, my cat is always babied, and he's very intellectual.

I'm a hunter.  I go out and shoot Elk and Deer and skin and gut them and have fried elk burgers and deer jerky. Does that mean I'm cruel to animals. No not IMO because I did not keep the deer or elk locked up in a pin til I was ready to kill them.  I had to go our walking for 20 miles to find them.

So my question is did your parents go and buy them from a market or did they go out and catch them?

The only other way i could think of killing a lobster, humanly i guess, is to put it in the freezer. Or wait for it to day of old age :?

I think you're on the path of understanding, in all seriousness.

I think that's the same reason why humans have slaughterhouses that cut off animals' horns and ears, genitals and such, slice and pierce their throats.....all while alive and awake. Same reason why people skin animals like chinchilas while they're alive and awake. It's supposed to make the products "better."

Wow kid, seriously you are a sissy. Lobsters dn't feel pain. And don't tell me they do, because they don't. If that makes you feel bad than don't eat them and join PEDA or PETA or wtf it is. I can't stand peopel like you who think it's animal cruelty to cook somthing. What else do you eat? Do you eat salad? Wow, you just killed a plant. You eat steak? Wow, you just killed a cow.

The "pain" that lobster's feel, isn't the pain we feel. Their "pain" triggers a relfex for whatever need that it might trigger. I can't believe you're disgusted by this. It's pathetic. I would never eat dinner with someone who thought it was cruel to cook a lobster. Besides, it's instant death for them.

So let's get this right.

1. Instant death (you don't feel anything in an instant death)
2. They don't feel the pain humans feel. Theri pain triggers reflexes while our pain tells us to cut the **** and pay attention.

people do it because they dont realize it. they try not to think about it. there were so many vietnam soldiers who commited suicide because they did too much thinking about killing the civilians (and vietcong alike)
