It's not just white people alone. It's pretty much kinda like a movement thanks to anime.

Careful not to stereotype. I don't want to be Japanese. I think it has one of the worst cultures in the world, to be honest.

Why would you care lol

I like everything Japanese and I hear they like tall white boy'z, so why the heck would I want to be another race. Besides I love being the minority in a foreign country. Like the attention.

So your wrong?

Be proud of your race, and I don't know any white person who wants to be Japanese. I'm interested in their country though and would love to visit Japan. I hate Anime though.

Think its because people like the culture, I mean come on even if you don't like Anime and video games It rocks. Its very Liberal and open to technology. I don't wanna go to Japan, But I can see the attraction.

Edit : Misread the question, Thought you asked why do people want to go to Japan. Dunno why people would want to be another color.

It's a fad. It's really annoying. It will go away after the animes Bleach and Naruto are over. Don't worry. Also the name for people like that are "Wapanese".

because they like the big eyes, the always moving hair, and the innuendos. they like kinky s****.

its pathetic how obsessed some people become, but that's just my opinion, I'm pretty tolerant and don't insult people for that.

They don't want to actually be japanese. But rather be immersed into that culture.

Its pretty weird, but if they want to adopt another culture, then w'e.

It's because most anime watchers, or people who have seen Japanese game shows, assumes that Japan is a super fun happy time place where everybody is always happy, the girls are always pretty and you have nothing to ever worry about.

I hate this so much, I know someone like this. I dont mind japanese culture I find really interesting really but not to the point were I want to move to Japan, were I only listen to Japanese music(j-pop/rock) and can only watch the sub'd anime because DUBs kill the regular voices. These people annoy me to know end, though I do get a kick out of it, because I was talking to this one kid(hes japanese) and hes like yeah, we make fun of them all the time for it.

yeah i agree. i also love anime very much but in no way do i want to be a japanese. Just see my sig. Those who are extremely obsessed with it though need to see more of life. there are so many interesting/great things in life other than just animes.

I love the Japanese culture and I plan to move there someday. They are a beautiful people whose society is built upon values like honor and respect. They are against wars and are radically efficient in the workplace. The country's crime rate is less than a third of ours, drugs are less rampant, their technology beats the snot out of ours and their Prime Minister is an anime fan.

The only reason why I would ever move to japan is if I would be sent there as a diplomat, no way in hell would I try to find work there. And the only reason is why I would be sent there is because I have japanese language skills which I acquired because it was a requirement to graduate.

 You're not going to move anywhere, it's just a dumb phase. I went through it too! You'll eventaully start moving on and appreciating other cultures. For instance I now Identify myself with native americans (as you can see in my sig). Which also had a society built on honor and respect, and like japan many of tribes also harbored a warrior culture. There plenty of these types of society's all over the world.

My obsession with native american stuff right now is probably also a phase.

ughhh who enjoys anime? It's pretty much the same formula every time. There's a two episode long dialogue about obtaining power, then a super cool finisher move that lasts about 20 seconds and then the storyline is over. Rinse and repeat. There are a few anime movies that are decent though, but all the anime kids out there can keep the shows.

I have the same resentment and I grew up on anime. Although I would say the thing that I enjoy the most about anime is not the plot, since they're often so repetitive but the interaction between the characters is where they seem to shine alot of the time, it's often very lively and funny.

Like the plot in Inuyasha sucks ass 99% of the time, but the interactions between the characters is always fun to watch.

What makes you think you know what I'm gonna do? You don't know anything about me. As far as phases go, this must be a very long one. I've had an affinity for the Japanese culture since I was ten. And while there may be "plenty of these types of society's all over the world", Japan has survived as a soverign nation for several millenia. Their culture has shown no sign of negative influence until the past decade.

I don't want to be japanese, I'm perfectly fine with the way I am.

I do like many things in there culture, as someone thats already been there I'd gladly visit again given the time, there are many things I never got to see that I'd like to visit.

weeaboo

wapanese

I never heard that word before so I had to look it up. Upon reading the definition, I laughed so hard I almost peed. I've met many people like that. I agree they are extremely annoying, like the emos and scene kids. However, I don't find anything wrong with someone liking a country or its culture so much that they wish they were a part of it. As long as they actually make the effort to learn the language, history and culture of that country.
