I seen it on this site a lot, some white guy/girl is so obsessed with anime and Japanese culture they wanna actually be Japanese. Is being white really that boring that you wanna be something else? Please explain.kurama2002
You just answered your own question.
There are people from all cultures that wanna be another culture....
You can quote me on that.... because its 100% True.

Yea but white people seem to be doing it the most. W*ggers and all that Japanese wanna be.
Think its because people like the culture, I mean come on even if you don't like Anime and video games It rocks. Its very Liberal and open to technology. I don't wanna go to Japan, But I can see the attraction.
Edit : Misread the question, Thought you asked why do people want to go to Japan. Dunno why people would want to be another color.
i know some white people are obsesed anime just because it's anime and it's part of being japanese. It's annoying. It's a good thing I don't know any people that like anime.
If I did athletics like sprinting I'd like to be black, other than that I don't see any need to magically change race.hongkingkong
Black people have an advantage in track? Has this been scientifically proved?

Yes, they owned track and field in Bejing.
They don't want to actually be japanese. But rather be immersed into that culture.
Its pretty weird, but if they want to adopt another culture, then w'e.
I hate this so much, I know someone like this. I dont mind japanese culture I find really interesting really but not to the point were I want to move to Japan, were I only listen to Japanese music(j-pop/rock) and can only watch the sub'd anime because DUBs kill the regular voices. These people annoy me to know end, though I do get a kick out of it, because I was talking to this one kid(hes japanese) and hes like yeah, we make fun of them all the time for it.

It's not only white people, but other asians also.
yeah i agree. i also love anime very much but in no way do i want to be a japanese. Just see my sig. Those who are extremely obsessed with it though need to see more of life. there are so many interesting/great things in life other than just animes.
I have never wanted to be japanese and I hate anime besides a few shows.zombieman666agree. I think they are lame, the animes FTW. Besides, i'd rather be Chinese. ;P
I love the Japanese culture and I plan to move there someday. They are a beautiful people whose society is built upon values like honor and respect. They are against wars and are radically efficient in the workplace. The country's crime rate is less than a third of ours, drugs are less rampant, their technology beats the snot out of ours and their Prime Minister is an anime fan.
 You're not going to move anywhere, it's just a dumb phase. I went through it too! You'll eventaully start moving on and appreciating other cultures. For instance I now Identify myself with native americans (as you can see in my sig). Which also had a society built on honor and respect, and like japan many of tribes also harbored a warrior culture. There plenty of these types of society's all over the world.I love the Japanese culture and I plan to move there someday. My obsession with native american stuff right now is probably also a phase.
ughhh who enjoys anime? It's pretty much the same formula every time. There's a two episode long dialogue about obtaining power, then a super cool finisher move that lasts about 20 seconds and then the storyline is over. Rinse and repeat. There are a few anime movies that are decent though, but all the anime kids out there can keep the shows.johnnyv2003I have the same resentment and I grew up on anime. Although I would say the thing that I enjoy the most about anime is not the plot, since they're often so repetitive but the interaction between the characters is where they seem to shine alot of the time, it's often very lively and funny.
Like the plot in Inuyasha sucks ass 99% of the time, but the interactions between the characters is always fun to watch.
more like.... be .....inside..... one
ahem...
anyway yea I love Nihon Culture as some may be able to tell
japanese girls are really cute and I love alot about them, their voices too I even love just hearing the japanese language

What makes you think you know what I'm gonna do? You don't know anything about me. As far as phases go, this must be a very long one. I've had an affinity for the Japanese culture since I was ten. And while there may be "plenty of these types of society's all over the world", Japan has survived as a soverign nation for several millenia. Their culture has shown no sign of negative influence until the past decade.
There is a big difference between being a weeaboo and enjoying something from another country.foxhound_fox
Truth right here.
I find there are a few interesting elements of their culture, but I am quite happy with being a western whiteboy.

weeaboo
wapanese
I never heard that word before so I had to look it up. Upon reading the definition, I laughed so hard I almost peed. I've met many people like that. I agree they are extremely annoying, like the emos and scene kids. However, I don't find anything wrong with someone liking a country or its culture so much that they wish they were a part of it. As long as they actually make the effort to learn the language, history and culture of that country.
