Wow, that was the coolest thing I have ever seen on youtube.

The whole thing was done in Flash. That is how those effects are accomplished. IGN has done very similar things with ads in the past using Tomb Raider for instance. If you go back to the page right click on any area where the action happens and you can see it is flash.
