When they told you that your grades will affect your life forever and if you dont get good grades you'll never get to go to college.
I had bad grades. I thought I was never gonna go to college in my future. I thought high school was the beginning or ending of all things in your life.
They also talked about how they never lose your grades but I called my high school and they have no record of me even going there. I went there for a semester. I guess thats good because when I get my ged I can say I never went to high school and I did homeschool.

they are only important if you want to get into a top-tier school out of high school.
I have a good friend i met while in college. i was a sophomore in college, he was like 24 and just got his GED because he had dropped out of high school. he then went to community college and was highly motivated to learn about politics. he ended up being one of the valedictorians and is about to start at CAL Berkeley this next semester.
point of the story. high school grades are not the be-all, end-all to your adult education. your college grades on the other hand, will make a difference if you intend to go get your master's or apply to certain jobs.
I had a 3.9 in high school, but i didn't apply myself for "extra curricular" activities and so i limited myself on my college choices. once i got into college, i realized keeping straight A's was almost impossible. most job recruiters i've met have said if you don't have over a 3.7 GPA in college (pretty much all A's and -A's) then don't bother putting it on your resume because they don't see a big difference from a 3.0 to a 3.5.
