So, recently, my father started messing with the inside of the computer when I knew 10x more than him and still I barely know anything, so yeah, he totally messed it up. And now i was looking for a labtop to replace it since we dont want to get into the building stuff, but he keeps ignoring me and says no. The labtop i told him about was only $800 on newegg and believe me, my parents can definitely afford it. But they just buy iMacs for themselves which in my opinion, that Snow Leopard or Linux OS is disorganized and is not good for my schoolwork. So anyway, anyone got any suggestions for convincing them? Oh yeah I also play games from time to time, but not much. Thanks.

What work? Like chores? Oh I do them everyday. I don't get allowance for the hour's work i do every 2 days, but my parents can definitely afford another computer.

I wish. I'm only 15 and people saying "go around the neighborhood and ask people to mow their lawns, walk their dogs, babysit" is just unrealistic in my town.

Because it is. We have people that do our lawns, people that walk their own dogs, and relatives who can babysit for them.

You have two options:

Find a cheaper one(there are tons...)

Wait till your 16...

And I don't know where you live but I know fast food areas hire at 15 in my state

Why do you need a laptop, what's wrong with a desktop? 'only' 800$, yea... 'only'. :roll:

And what does it matter what OS you use anyway? What about your schoolwork needs Windows? Games aren't schoolwork, unless you're developing them in directx, plenty run in Linux that you can toy with and all the programs like Maya have Linux/Mac versions.

How about some honesty here, if you want Windows, it's probably to play games, you're on 'gamespot' after all, so.. I mean, games.

Seems like you want a gaming machine. Just go buy a used 360 or PS3. If you already have one, then you don't need a computer for gaming. And your school should have computers accessible for homework. This $800 laptop seems much more like a want than a need. If it is a need, then I'd suggest getting a job saving some money up and building your own desktop and purchasing the components on Cyber Monday. You could probably get your parents to pitch in a little bit as an early Christmas gift.

I asked my dad if I could work at a new fast food restaraunt that just opened and he said no, so thats a no. Im only 15 so im only a freshman in highschool. And btw im not looking for a gaming system. Im looking for a fast labtop and now i found one on newegg thats only 650. And dont tell me 'only' because, no offense, just because some of you think thats a lot, you dont have to offend me. I posted on the first post that i do chores every 2 days for like 2 hours and dont get payed. I also dont have an allowance and as previously said, i cant get a job. There you go.

I'll go on a limb and say you didn't pay for your older computer either. Like everyone else, wait until you're old enough to find a job and pay for it yourself. My little brother got his first job last year and bought an Asus I6 Intel for $1000+ I'm not here to judge , but I don't see why anyone who isn't of legal age to own a job needs an $800 laptop.
