That depends on the type of car and radio you have if you want to use an iPod. If you have an older car with a tape deck you can buy one of the tape deck aux jacks that people used to use for CD players before they started getting installed factory.

If you don't have a tape deck then you'll have to use one of the FM transmitters to transmit the music through the radio (really sucks depending on your area because it may end up competing with local airwaves).

Newer cars have an aux jack you can plug the iPod in through the headphone jack, you'll just need a cord to plug it in.

If your radio has iPod integration with a USB jack then you can connect it directly and play the music through the radio controls versus having to change songs manually. Here's an example of an aftermarket radio with both iPod integration and a aux jack:

A lot of newer cars have iPod integration built in as standard or an add-on, such as Acuras, Toyotas, Fords, and more. With an older car you can buy an aftermarket one. With the iPod, you would just use the same cord you use to charge it or sync with your computer.
