So i had a friend who would let me plug in my ipod into a cable in his truck's glovebox. I don't know how he installed it or anything. Do you have to buy a certain cable and is there already a jack in the car that uses it. How do i play my ipod music in my car's stereo?

depends on the car does it have bluetooth? or you can use one of those double ended audio cables if your car supports auxiliary audio input

With my car I can just plug it in with the same cord I use to plug my Ipod into my computer.

With my Dad's car you need to buy a special wire that plugs into the car and into the headphone jack on the Ipod.

If it doesn't have either, you can get an adapter that plays music from your iPod through an FM radio frequency... assuming you have a FM radio.

That depends on the type of car and radio you have if you want to use an iPod. If you have an older car with a tape deck you can buy one of the tape deck aux jacks that people used to use for CD players before they started getting installed factory.

http://www.amazon.com/Coby-CA-747-Position-Cassette-Adapter/dp/B00006JPFU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1287380441&sr=8-1

If you don't have a tape deck then you'll have to use one of the FM transmitters to transmit the music through the radio (really sucks depending on your area because it may end up competing with local airwaves).

http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-4045-TRPAUTOS-iTrip-Transmitter-SmartScan/dp/B000WKPHHO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1287380492&sr=1-1

Newer cars have an aux jack you can plug the iPod in through the headphone jack, you'll just need a cord to plug it in.

http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Audio-Cable-iPhone-iPod/dp/B0031U1ATG/ref=pd_cp_e_2

If your radio has iPod integration with a USB jack then you can connect it directly and play the music through the radio controls versus having to change songs manually. Here's an example of an aftermarket radio with both iPod integration and a aux jack:

http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-KDC-MP345U--Dash-Receiver-Input/dp/B00337WLN6/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1287380638&sr=1-4

A lot of newer cars have iPod integration built in as standard or an add-on, such as Acuras, Toyotas, Fords, and more. With an older car you can buy an aftermarket one. With the iPod, you would just use the same cord you use to charge it or sync with your computer.

You need to have a deck installed in your car that has a jack/usb in it. Something like this. Alternatively, if your car has a cassette player, you can buy a cassette adapter.

this is also an option, but as a person who already used this, it's somewhat unstable.

You need a certain stereo deck that accepts iPod connection in the back. I know cause I have one lol, I made a special USB port in my glove box, and wired it to a Alpine X305 so I can plug any iPod and iPhone in my glove box to be played like an iPod. But you can also get a deck that has a USB port in the front, or an AUX port, so you can plug your iPod in the front too. The AUX port you just have to select your music with the iPod and plug it in with the headphones jack. I used to have one of those years ago, but I got tired of having to use my iPod to select my music, and I really wanted to be able to control my iPod threw the deck itself. And with the connection in the back, you can hide the iPod in your glove box so it looks more clean. The Apline x305 is the best deck out there to use for your iPod because it is ment just for those who have their music collection on just an iPod. I love my system. The only drawback is it doesn't play CDs, but with the screen display it is totally worth it.
