If they're hardcore conservatives, just tell them your gay That should lesson the blow.
Or you could fake your death.
But if you're like me, you could just get into a community college for 2 years, do well, then get into an actual university on a transfer scholarship. Not hard to do and you still get to go to a big boy college on a dime.
This, just dont give up man! It's not the end of the world. They'll be upset and maybe even disappointed for a bit, but they'll get over it. Go to community college, DO WELL, and transfer to university then. You'll actually save a lot of money this way too.

If you have that view, you'll never get into a good college.
Community college is like the easiest thing. Just do well enough to maintain a decent GPA (3.0 or so) and bam, no problem.
You could also join the military and get full benefits, its a route I could have taken.
No offense, but your wrong. Im allowed to be depressed about failing to reach my goals, never did I say im going to give up.If you have that view, you'll never get into a good college.

Im hesitant, my brother went this route and he didn't end up getting in and he keeps sinking.. Wondering if I should just upgrade and get in normally but either way im losing... man $260 for final exam prep courses down the drain, $115 application fee gone, halfway through summer school to raise a mark and then this dreaded mail.. specialzed
This is why I emphasized the "DO WELL" part lol. Study hard at community college, get good grades, and you'll be able to transfer to a good university for sure. The general education classes you'll take at community college generally aren't very difficult. Just stay focused, motivated, and apply yourself.
you gotta tell them sooner or later, they'll understand and just go to community college and save some money then transfer "wish i would have done that then go right to university, but oh well, its all good"
There's nothing to be upset about. It could be a blessing in disguise. My parents didn't want me to be in debt, so they payed for my school. Their condition? Community College first. You'll save boatloads and can transfer your credits to a four year school. Out of my group of friends that wen't straight to the four year school I attend, ONE is graduating at the same time as me. The rest have either failed out or are taking "breaks." Go to CC, make it a priority, and you'll do well.
I went to a community college for 2 years and I'm finally transferring to a university. Can't say that this was my plan all along, but I did my best at the community college, and now I'm satisfied with the way things are going.
Don't worry about what your parents think though. Like others have said, it's not like you're going to be costing yourself/them any more money by going to a community college. It's certainly not a waste of time either.

Tell them....Screw the university and join the armed forces. You will actually make money instead of spending and wasting time..jmho
Lol I thought this was gonna be about being gay or not believing your parents religion. :P Just tell them, if they love you they will understand and try and help you.

Interpretive dance. That way you've told them, gotten it out into the open and your conscience will be clear. If they don't understand it, accuse them of being boorish naendrathols and tell them that their poor genetics are the reason you're not getting into University. Win-win.
Go to community college for 2 years and save them thousands of dollars... they may actually love the news.
Looks like University of Illinois!
But seriously, it's probably best to just tell them. Tell them how you're feeling about it. It's a good idea to present them with a plan you've created about how this has affected your future, and what you're going to do about it.
Did your parents say they would be disappointed if you didn't get into a university? If not, then don't worry about it. You're not perfect. My advice would be to go to a community college first, and then transfer to a university. If I'm correct, you don't have to worry about SAT or ACT scores if you go that route, and community college is alot cheaper than university, at least here in Southern California.
