mariage seems just....too permanent what's the factor that so many people in this world make in order to make this giant step? is it kids? do they think they'd be more mature if they get married? is it love?

You don't need to be posting on here. If there's nothing interesting here why not play a video game for a while? or something...

Give the New Topic button a rest.

I'm sure the reasons differ depending on the individuals, for some it's religious, for others it's to signify a commitment to one another, or both. I don't know, I don't see it as the biggest deal personally, but if it made the woman I am with happy, then I'd go with it. My only point of contention is with really expensive weddings, I really don't see the merit in it, just use the money for something better, like a house.

A lot of people get married for the wrong reasons. There's a huge social push to get married - somehow people feel it is a neccesity of life. The 50% divorce rate is a sign that marriage isnt for everyone or at least that people are doing it wrong.

As someone who has come to terms in his own mind that the woman he's dating right now is more than likely going to be his wife, and I'm still avoiding even the idea of a proposing. I genuintly think the reasons for marriage are the following -Love- At some point its just all lame and feminine, and you genuinly come to terms with the fact that he or she is "THE ONE". Seriously sometimes its just that cheesy. -Security or just not wanting to be alone -They date someone for a long long time out of comfort, so the obvious step is usually marriage. -Kids, some people get married because in the process of not wrapping their tool or taking pills or whatever. They got prego, so some people get married for their kid. Those are usually reasons I've always seen. I like to think the most succesful marriages are born out of genuine love for the other person. Now if you'll excuse me i'm going to have to go see ESPN to mantain some of the male dignity i thought I once had.

That's how I feel about it. If I had a nickel for each time some relative, coworker, or friend asked me "when are you two going to get married", then that would outweigh the supposed insurance savings I would get for actually being married :P

SERIOUSLY everyone and there mother eventually just finds a way to shoe horn in that comment. "So when are you 2 going to get married" is beyond the words annoying after the millionth time. The first few times you atleast laugh at the notion, then you start realising people expect you 2 to be married, thats when it gets annoying :|

I think everyone pretty much accepted that we were never going to get married  In the end, we planned a trip for hawaii and got married in a month. Like, it was just out of the blue.

Yes. My feeling is I'd rather not be married my whole life than be married to the wrong person. My family just doesn't understand that. Actually, not just my family, most people in general. They tend to feel sorry for you if you're not married, but then my friends complain about married life every day to me. Kind of hypocritical.

i don't understand how you could complain. being married is pretty awesome then again, i made sure i was ready I don't understand people who get married too soon.

not good enough champ. you gotta realize you'll spend the rest of your life with just her, no chance for meeting a new woman. ever. well, unless she dies or something D= For me, I didn't realize it until I broke up with her a few years ago... and then she didn't just get back together with me. Thought I'd made the biggest mistake of my life. Felt awful. But I got her back :3
