I've read people on this site say they do it and love it. Some of them are lying I'm sure, but it's reasonable that a few members on this site do this for a living. If you do it or know anyone who is a game tester explain how you/they/whomever got the job, where it is, or anything like that. I'm also wondering if it's a full-time job or part-time. And no, I'm not talking about me wanting to do it, because I realize everyone wants to do it. Thanks.

Beta test whenever possible (MMO's, sometimes other games will also have beta's that you can sign up for.) Then sign up for a QA internship or just apply for a testing job. Testers get one of the lowest salaries in the game business though, and do the same thing over and over, and often play builds that are broken.

That's a good question... you probably have to be fairly good at whatever game you want to test out (like, all the testers for Age of Empires II were pros at the game).

It's an entry level job, so you should be able to find it the same why you'd find any other job (check the Internet, or find a video game company in your area and see).

I've heard it's an awful experience though...

well the easiest way to is to check in with a hiring company, of course you'll get screwed out of your full wage, and probably some other things, but I've heard it works good if you're desperate.

If you send out enough resumes I'm sure somebody will hire you, but you need to live within commuting distance of the developer, and willing to work alot. Often there's "crunch time" especially with companies like EA that want their games out on a very certain date where you could be working 16 hour a days, it's not as common as people will say it is but if you work in the industry enough (normally a year) you'll run into it.
