I'm in kind of a similar situation. Except I feel like there is something there. Maybe I just need to be more aggressive, and show that I am serious. If you back off and keep going out with other girls, and then come back to this special girl that you can't get over, I feel like that makes it even more difficult.

Nowadays I acknowledge it to God and pray about how should I go about the situation. In a number of instances, I've had some attraction to a girl that I did not necessary want to date in the past. As their character or other aspects were incompatible with my personality, or I wasn't that attractive to them. The biggest personality difference would be my Christian beliefs. And the religious conflicts that would occur with someone who didn't have near as strong of a faith in Christ as I do. Which means that other people who label themselves as Christians, aren't excluded from being unfit for me to date. I'm also a very playful and sarcastic individual, which will drive a lot of women crazy. And I'm not willing to change that aspect of me, so I need a woman whose ok with who I am as a person and can play along.

Before I became the born again Christian I am today. I would ponder if I should ask the person out, and it usually was someone I knew. So the biggest issue, is not that I would been told no. But now that my feelings have been revived, our friendship is tarnished as said girl is not going to be as crazy talking to me, knowing that I like them. Along with the chance of the relationship failing also ending our friendship. So I had to choose if staying as friends, was better than nothing. Today I'm glad that I didn't ask out that many girls when I was younger, as much as I desired a relationship.

I will also add that I'm not into masturbation and don't watch porn. But that doesn't mean that I don't occasionally have sexual thoughts pop up in my head. I just let the thoughts pass through my head. Acknowledge it and try to pray about it. And move on with my day.
