How do YOU deal with telemarkters?

So today I was going about my business when a telemarkter called me. I am a really polite guy so I talked to the person for 4-5 minutes (saying no every chance I get). However, the girl wouldn't give up and I lost my temper and hung up.

Afterwards, she called me back like 20 times saying "oh you didn't want me to call you back?" or **** like "hi who is this?"

And I gotta say, I realllllly hate these telemarketers.

What are some stratgies you guys propose to deal with this?

Btw she was cold calling and trying to ask for personal information like my name/email etc. lol. No way was I gonna give that to a complete stranger over the phone. It would just mean I would get even more calls + spam etc.

Hang up.

Either dont answer, answer in a foreign language, immediately start yelling, or tell them my life story

I usually tell them that work pays for the product - regardless of the product.

I pretend I'm being held hostage by a gang of thugs who if they don't get any money will send me to my family piece by piece.

I usually just hang up or say I'm not interested.

If I don't recognize the number, I won't answer. :)

Imagine if you were in their position.

What I do is I'll yell at my imaginary kid and say "I'm sorry, but my son is going ballist... JAMES DON'T TOUCH THE PHONE!!!" and cut the phone.

I do one of two things:

1) Talk to them extensively about my personal problems until they hang up.

2) Tell them I will think about it and ask for their home phone number.

Never had to deal with them.

I answer the phone in a variety of unusual voices

Most of the time, I don't answer. But if I'm in a bad mood, then I'll answwr and get pretty nasty with them, or mess with them.

I always try to sell THEM some of MY products.

Hang up on their face. If I say hello twice and no one says anything, I assume it's a telemarketer so I hang up.

There was few times I act like a douche to a female marketer though. I told her if she isn't selling no snu snu, I don't want it. Then I hung up....:P

ofcourse not there not allowed to give up. they have a script and they have to keep talking or they get the boot.
