Religion has dominated society since as long as there have been societys. Is it that surprising that people are biased against athiests? Acceptance and the changing of peoples opinions take time, you cant expect people to accept the complete opposite of everything they've been taught for centuries in such a short amount of time. If anything you should be happy you're born now and in the U.S where the worst that will happen is people who you shouldn't even care what they think might look down on you. The best possible solution is for more athiests to come out and actually promote coexistence like a lot of homosexuality movements instead of funding for billboards denouncing religion.
i respect atheists but I find it very ironic that you guys act like being atheist is a religion and will argue with people who either don't share your same views or who opposes it. I mean if i was an athesist if a friend ask me to go to church with him, i would, if a guy was passing out bibles in front of the library I would take one, if people say being atheist is wrong, i would say sure and go about my day. I mean you don't freaking believe in anything so why do are you guys fighting like you do? Why do you guys get hurt feelings when someone says being atheist is wrong? thats what i never understood.
After watching the video, I can say that those are definitely things I've witness beforehand. Hell, I had those issues from family members considering I never take religion seriously (I never told them I was an Atheist. I actually didn't learn of the term til I was around 15. Even then, I seen no point in saying what I am...).
I'm surprised at the number of celebrities that are Atheist. I actually was expecting to see Clint Eastwood since most of the time in his movies when it comes to religion, he really never takes it seriously....
 Hey man, they're the forerunners of modern scienceI loved the scrolling list of atheists respected in society today and throughout history, from authors to political activists, to those 2 guys who present Mythbusters.

As for the most intelligent quote, the maker of the video posted a response to it saying that the reason he put that there is because research has shown that atheists generally have a higher IQ than others. I'm not saying that statement is completely true, but at least it has some backing to it.therenmeister
I always think that this is a bs statistic. Atheists aren't smart, smart people become atheist. I'm not insulting religion, I'm saying that people more interested in science and mathematics are less likely to believe in a God and more likely to search for concrete proof. Religious people might use the other half of their brain more, who knows.
where do these people live that they're openly shunned for being atheists? the 1500s??? comp_atkinsthats what i'm saying, if you don't believe in anything why do you care what other people say about you?... I never know anybody is atheist unless their telling me every 5 minutes trying to prove a point of how cool they are for not believing.
Religion is the cause of all violence........... except when it's not (reference the London Riots thread and the millions and millions of deaths as a result of democide by, for one example, communist regimes).

is usually because the more logical a person is, the more easy is to become an atheist, usually people who have high iqs are the ones who are constantly and objectively questioning everything and asking themselvces how things work, and when these people question the values of religions, well its game over, thats why religion wants people to follow them like blind sheep.

A logical person would see that both sides have merit. There is no proof for gravity. If you jump and come back down, you are seeing the effects of gravity, not gravity itself. It could be anything pushing you down. That being said it would be foolish to not recognize gravity as a legitimate theory. The idea of a God is more out there but labeling it as bogus is just as dumb.

and i guarantee you an atheist took these statistics. Having faith has nothing to do with your IQ. I seen atheists become believers and i seen believers become atheist so that really is a bs statisticMankind has been dominated by religion since the beginning of history, it's not surprising that atheists are shunned.
Personally, I'm not an atheist because that itself constitutes a kind of belief.
I prefer to call myself a scientist (by conviction, not trade).

Is it really that bad in America. Is christianity that common there? Had no idea. No sarcasm. LustForSoulIt isn't bad at all in the northern states, but I'd imagine its pretty bad in the bible belt. As a Christian, I'm incredibly embarrassed by what other arrogant Christians can be like.

theories must have something to back them up, comparing gravity to god is nonsense, we have observed gravity, we have tested, how do you think we came up with the 9.8 m/s accel from gravity? do you think someone thought that number looked cool? where is anything god related at all observable? can we test it? does it exist in something else than people's minds, because im no fan of believing what people say without proof, because we all know people never lie. So tell me why both sides should have merit? i try to be open minded about everything but when people show me science and when people show me religion is very one sided to me. If people wnat to be lieve let them, but dont come comparing tested theories with stories from a time when we thought earth was the center of the universe.
