if its msn its one of two things either "OK U?" this is short and doesnt take long to type... it is reserved for people i dont like so much. the other is "fine thanks :) and how are you?" this is for people I do lke...

I always say, "I'm good. How about you?". Then, either he/she would tell me an awful story and I would feel sympathy for them, or she/he would tell me they're fine.

Since I get that question very much as I work in a videostore And that is usually the thing somebody says as soon as they walk in I have devloped a routine answer I give.

Its "quite well quite well how are you?" or "quite well thanks for asking how are you?" the "how are you" part can change depending on my mood.

I've been known to say "How do you find yourself on this the most splendid of days". Just for laughs you knows.

there's no point in saying how are you. in my opinion, it's a dumb question because people just lie about how they are anyway. i hate it when people ask "how are you" but they don't ask a more specific question. i find it very hard to create a conversation out of just "how are you" and then they go away thinking i don't talk, when really i would talk if i was asked something else.

Generally I say "peachy and yourself?"....when people ask that they honestly don't give a rats ass...they're jsut trying to be nice and really don;t need to hear about my issues (if I'm having any)....

People never say "How are you?" to me,they say "Alright?",and I say "Yeah" or "alright" back. Irish dialect FTW.
