I know some of you just buys the games because it looks fun and cool.

Some just look at ratings before buying them.

How do you guys see your games before buying them?

Looking for pictures, game trailer, gameplay or rating.

For me I try to find rating first. Then screenshots, if there is no screenshots like say on gamespot, I go to the official website. Then I look for Gameplay.

I think about it to wait for the review. Bad ratings = No Buy. Really good review = BUY!!! :D

What are your steps?

When I see a game that looks good, I follow previews and movies until launch, then I look at average scores from as many reviews as possible. Trusting one site would be a bit unfair.

I look at gs for games that interest me.

I don't really care what review they get, ie. Star Wars Battlefront only got a 7 something, yet its one of my most favorite games ever

If its a 3+ or 7+, then I'll ask my friends if their any good, (Burnout Paradise for example) and probably get it. But for my PS3, I'm not getting any 3+ or 7+ games for it, also I look for the gameplay online, like Guitar Hero 3 and Resistance (worst FPS ever). My PSP I only have one 7+, which is MediEvil Resurrection. For PSP I don't care about the ratings, providing I've played those games before.

I check out some gameplay footage on youtube, then take a look at the video reviews of the game on gamespot and IGN.

Gaming trifecta:

1. Developer history

2. Game concept

3. Video footage/demo

I've been gaming a long time and I like to think I've developed a keen eye. I don't use reviews as a basis for purchases - in fact, I write them. If a game appeals to me based on two of the above three, I will consider buying it. If it hits all three, it's in my shopping basket without question.

I'll probably get modded for this but I just download them off the a torrent site and try them out for a week.

If I don't like them I delete them, if I think they're worth buying I'll go out and buy them.

Reviews, trailers/previews, rating, etc. Often times if I'm still not sure I'll just get it from gamefly first.

Watching video footage of the game, along with reading/watching various reviews and checking out the GameRankings average for it.

i look at ratings to get an idea whats in it, but i dont buy based on them, like when game informer gave no more heroes a crappy review even though it was amazing, (and i usually agree with their reviews) then i might look for some gameplay too

First I look for games that interest me, then I take a look at the ratings to see if it's more than just looks, then I get it. I might play a demo if there is one.

I'll read the player reviews just to get a sense of what the general gaming community thinks of it. But if I think it looks good, I will usually buy it, regardless of reviews.
