How do you shave your neck?

I used to shave down on it, but my dad said not to because I get a rash. But if I don't shave down, I don't get all the hairs. I shave up, but it does not really work, so I am just wondering what I am supposed to do.

I shave up until its smooth and then down to get it extremely smooth. Never had problems with rashes.

Your not supposed to shave against the grain, which is down for most guys I think. My neck's grain goes down though, so I shave down lol. I used to get rashes from shaving up, but I think it was more due to the speed at which I was shaving lol.

I only have a few hairs on my neck at the moment, but I shave up to get rid of them. >_>

My neck hair grows upwards, so i do it against the grain - stretch out your skin and shave against the grain to avoid cuts
