So for about a month I have been doing push ups every morning right after I get up. I have noticed a change with more muscle and I can do about 60 at a time now. But it has become very easy to be lazy and just skip a day and I was wondering how do you guys stay motivated to workout? Or how do you keep yourself motivated for anything that might not be super fun?

Just set goals and once you accomplish them, set new ones.

All the time I spent improving myself will be wasted if I ever quit, even for two days is too long for me to be inactive. It gets easier the longer you do it.

Isn't that more escaping reality than staying motivated? :P

Sorry I don't see how that would benefit me. And I made a goal to never drink...and I never will

i ate 26 nuggets in one sitting and threw down on 4 gallons of egg nog with some friends within a couple days, do things of that nature pretty frequently. and i didnt gain a pound. sure my arteries will pay for it. but i find the best motivator is to just not be motivated. it never fails

lol at this. you are missing out on a lot by not trying it.. but motivation is a useless tool. my motto is "just effing do it." i take that when it comes to studying, working out, working, and talking to hot girls at the bar or partying. i don't think, i just kind of do it. thinking about it critically is always worse than doing it

Nah not really, drinking is overrated. I do it with friends at times and I like wine with some dinners, but on the whole meh...

I showed the greater lack of motivation to post that first. So really, I win.

Get some weights. I used to do pressups too but it becomes too difficult to challenge yourself.... I couldn't be bothered doing 60+ either. At least with dumbbells, you can keep increasing the weight instead of standing there for half an hour doing a zillion reps.

When it comes to routine stuff like exercising or cleaning I just do it. I'm like a robot with that stuff.

Well lucky for you I'm pretty much a psychologist so here goes

What do you like

Why do you like it

Take that factor, that one right there; yes, somehow make yourself believe that it can be achieved in two ways, one of them sadly being working out

Regarding the original, non-work-out resolve you had which originally lead to the motivating factor; you should forget about that one, otherwise the working-out one won't seem too good for you

For you, free of charge

As far as working out, I suffer from severe migraine headaches and was sick of taking meds. I decided to start working out 40 mins of cardio a day and 4 days of heavy lifting. Haven't had a migraine in 4 months from having 4+ a month vomit enducing migraines.

Everybody and their grand mothers will make it sound so damn simple to do but the fact is that it isn't! Take that to the bank!
