Poll How do you take notes? (20 votes)

On the computer 25%
On the phone 0%
On paper 75%

I've always got a notebook and pen near my PC to jot down quick notes, and various people have pointed out to me that I could just open Notepad and throw it on the desktop.

No shit, but that requires be to be at the PC to access it whereas I can just rip a piece of paper off and shove it in my pocket if I need to.

Taking notes on the phone just takes too damn long, and fvck T9.

How do you do your note taking, OT? Are you paperless or still mired in ancient art of the scribe?

By the title I thought you meant for school. For quick notes I love to use sticky notes and paste them on my monitor (desktop monitor is just to my right, I have a laptop too) or index cards. If you check my back pocket it more likely than not that I will have an index card with written notes.

Thought this was going to be related to school and answered wrong. Everyday note taking I do on my phone, in class I use a notepad although I would prefer to do it on a Laptop but unfortunately don't have one.

I rarely if ever take notes. I'm not sure if this has adversary affects on my keeping tracks of things or not. But if I do, I use notepad and my phone.

I use composition books. I can't take notes on a notebook; I tried. It's simply not "immersive" for me.

Science has proven that taking notes on paper is more effective than with other methods.

I disagree though I have heard the same thing. Even if I write neat the spacing between my notes is awful. At least on a computer I can format the text with bold lettering, changing font, moving text around, even add neat graph pics from online.

What if you need to add another note to a previous topic and there is no room on the paper? just draw arrows? Or just copy and paste it neatly on a computer.

Put a '1' prefixing the previous note, circle the number. Put a '2' prefixing the continuing note and circle that number as well..

I use stars, arrows, or citations.

Example.

If it's something that I want to remember to do, then I use the desktop sticky notes. Otherwise and school and such I always use a notebook.

If we're talking school, I still use pencil and paper. For general things, I have sticky notes and a small pad of paper nearby. I occasionally put things in my phone.

Back in college I usually had a composition notebook for each individual class. As far as informal notes in everyday life, I usually just voice dictate it in my phone, as I always have it with me and don't have to worry about losing the paper later.

I'm a composition notebook and pencil kind of guy. It allows me a lot of flexibility in how I write notes, calculations, etc. The latter would be borderline impossible to write in text in a computer quickly and with appropriate symbols (the entire fucking Greek alphabet soup, caps and lowercase) , and writing calculations out on virtual paper always seems messy as **** when I see other people do it - and I doubt that I'd be an exception.
