Where and how do they get the money to pay all the empolyees @ gamespot? Do the game developers give them money to review their game?

Some members pay a subscription yearly (myself included) to get a number of benefits like demos, better video quality, downloads and access to betas 'n stuff. They make most of their money like most websites do, though, through advertising. I imagine at least.

Advertising and they also have a jewelry line. And yes, as someone mentioned before, they do engage in human smuggling.

Our benefits are really non-existent. This is my second year as a GameSpot Gold member and I've only participated in one weekend beta. Everyone can stream 540p videos and at least I can't be bothered to download trailers, video reviews and other videos on my PC. And even the download speeds are sluggish compared to what for example IGN has to offer with FilePlanet. Still I'm paying - I wonder why.

By games companies buying review scores and firing the reviewers saves on salaries too
