I'm really bad at it. Most of the time I can't think well, and I spent 10 minutes trying to think of a first sentence. When I do get to writing it, I think it sucks, so it takes me a while do redo the whole thing.
It really depends what length it is. I can write good short essays but long one's i flaw in.Sharvie
I have to write one that's half a page long and I'm struggling to come up with ideas, but surprisingly I can write a 10 page essay on something I love when I'm bored with no problem.
It doesnt matter, the first sentence is not always the best. you'll have to make it several times before you get a good result. just write something and dont stop: ideas will flow.

I love writing essays. As far as how good I am, it depends what I am writing about & how enthusiastiac I am about the topic. But for the most part I usually get high grades.

Try just writing down everything you can think of, then start to remove the parts that aren't essential to your story. And first sentences are almost always the hardest.
Another tip: write the essay... then put it away and have a look at it during the next day. It helps :)
Without sounding too egotistic, i'm damn good at writing essays :P I got an A16 for my last essay (on narrative structure and directorial influence on the films 'Alice in den Staden' and 'Natural Born Killers') which is the highest i could get (i'm at university/college). My advice- get a thesaurus and learn loads of prentencious words (basically anything in the Architect's speech from Matrix: reloaded). Then you will win.

It depends on the subject matter. If it's something I can't relate to, say, something about the theme of a book or something, then it usually takes awhile to get things "flowing." But when the essay is something I can relate to such as videogames, then I can easily write probably a few pages.

Pretty good. I've BS'd my wait through high school english essays and gotten high 80's. thats strategy continues tio work in university too. I currently have an 85% average in english.
I'm really good at it :) Although I take ages on the first sentence, after that I find it really easy to write really well. Top of my year :D Judging by this topic quite a lot of people struggle with the first sentence.

Pretty good I guess. I'm 17 and for English essays I usually get the equivalent of 9.5/10.. I do well in History as well, though I have to try a bit harder for those ones.
Yeh for me it takes long to start of. But when i eventually get to it, the start is always the best but as you go through the essay the quality also depreciates and then the end is a total flop. So overall No i am not that good at writing essays, but i know if i practice i will be rather good at it.

Pretty good. My average for university level papers now is around 70-75%. You get better as you go along, plus, you need to be taught how to write them properly and have proper feedback. So you can learn what is wrong and how not to do it again.

When I pull late nighters to finish an essay (usually just involves writing the thing; most research is done at that point) I usually end up with a B+. If I take a little bit of time, I usually get a better mark than that. Â
Very good at essays,not so good at research papers :( Whenever I get stuck in an essay I tend to take my mind to the most relaxing place on earth....................
Essays I can do with ease, for some reason I find reports hard...even though the content of it is all there and all you really have to do is structure it.
