yes. it probably has the best character development i've seen, considering the target audience, in an anime

I thought it was f***ing terrible...so bad I could not finish season 2. And I watch a lot of crap anime on the treadmill (it takes a lot for me to quit one) One of the worst/most annoying I have ever seen

It's fine. I got about 10 episodes in, didn't really go further though because I wasn't all that into it. I think there are definitely much better anime out there.

...hmmm...not much is ever 'great'. It is usually just enough to keep me going while running (requires me to pay enough attention to not think about how much longer I need to run but not so much attention that I fall off the treadmill) Xam'd is one of the few I watched on 'my own time'. I liked it Gundam 00 was all right Black Lagoon was pretty good Claymore went well till they just had to end it...same with Berserk Everyone went on and on about Elfen Lied...did not like Hellsing wasn't bad Death note season 1 was good TBH they all kind of run together (run...treadmill...herr herr). If you ask me about one, I can tell you...but just trying to recall the ones I have seen is hard for me

By the way, TC, if you're looking for a really good but serious anime that's not really similar to FMAB but is definitely better, I recommend either Neon Genesis Evangelion, Kara no Kyoukai, or Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

to be honest i've lost interest in most anime, most of it isn't even worth watching the first episode for.

"not much is ever 'great'" true, but that can be applied to most anything. well as long as you enjoy it, the general consensus shouldn't matter much

Xam'd is one my favorites though.

I know what I am getting with anime in general (so it was not a complaint...or at least not intended to be one).
It would be liking going to a summer blockbuster and being upset b/c it wasn't an oscar worthy script

There just a few anime that cross over into being unbearable for me.
Though I am sure my age plays a part with E7 (character being so young). I thought the first half of season 1 of Gurren Lagann was unbearable as well (annoying kid and all that 'bro' crap). It did get better though.

yeah most it can be pretty insulting to your intelligence. there's no nice way to say it, anime can be pretty stupid.

the last couple of episodes for Neon Genesis Evagelion were so horrible, Gainax the animation studio responsible for it's creation are on their third attempt of retelling it.

i suppose my growing older is aiding my ever growing dissatisfaction for anime.

haha, gurren lagann can be so lame. but yeah the second half was good.

Cowboy Bebop, is one I can recommend to both you and TC if you haven't seen it already.

24 episodes of NGE + End of Evangelion are godly. The last two episodes of the anime don't exist as far as I'm concerned. :P

While it may have been the apparent theme and subject of the show, I found that it lurked a tad too much upon the topic of adolescent drama and puberty as a whole. Regardless, I found its original style and interesting cast of characters intriguing. The few physical action scenes scattered throughout were also quite the treats.

It is an ok anime. I think the best character development has to go to Avatar: The Last Airbender. It only had three seasons and I felt as if I knew everything about the characters when it was over.
