I have undergo several tests at certain points of my life. I got a bad mark on some, and to me, it is harsh enough to make me feel very sad, much like when I am in a big trouble.

If I knew that I did bad on it, I didn't care. If I thought I did well on it, it was a smack in the face.
A little harsh, at the end of the day it's my fault if I fail or do bad in the test for not preparing so I usually know what's coming.
You never got an F on a test before, Raw?[QUOTE="rawsavon"]Couldn't tell you... If it did happen though, I would probably be very upset (same as when I got a B that one time)Pirate700
No...never.
-though I did get some B's and C's in Junior high (I did not do any work b/c it did not count yet...so it did not matter to me)
-I got one B in HS when I had to miss time after my car wreck
-I got another B in college
I used to freak out about getting anything bad on any test I ever took.
Then I went to college and realized that the only tests that matter are the ones for your future career.
Now I'm doing much better after realizing that specializing in a given field does wonders for your grades. (And sanity.)
If I could give just one piece of advice to high school students, it would be to find something that you're good at and enjoy and find a way to turn it into a realistic career to follow.
DO NOT pick up random classes.
I used to T.A. for a class at a high caliber university, and I had to grade papers as a part of my job. Generally there were only two grades--a midterm and a final, so the grades you received were very important.
I actually saw people in genuine tears at that school over a B-. I couldn't take that, and I think it was one of the main reasons why I left the Ph.D. program.
really not enough information to judge.
depending on what the test is about and how bad the mark is would make a huge difference in whether it is a mild disappointment and indication to study harder or a big letdown that indicates something needs to be corrected or even a marker of a serious problem.
so it all depends and it seems as though this is almost a rhetorical query in the first place but a perusal of the responses will possibly give you some assistance.
with a little effort I could have been even less crystaline:wink:
Getting B's used to bother/upset me a lot. Nowadays, as long as I don't fail a test, I don't particularly care. If a cumulative grade is B or above, I'm content with it.
If I get a B (70-80%) then I am slightly disappointed. It can ruin my day if I studied hard for it. Anything below that and I am destroyed. Sometimes I'm sad even if I get 80-90% - I know I can do better. Thankfully it's not very common I get below 85%.
I picked "very harsh". I think what you meant by bad mark is a failing mark (below 50%). That's enough to make me cry on the spot.
