How important are Clubs, Sports, and Activities on College Applications?

Very soon I will be applying to many various college. I wanted to know, how important are clubs,sports and other extraciricular activites on college applications? I mean I have good grades, a 4.00 GPA, and I have taken one AP course. I plan on majoring in Computer Science and going to Virginia Tech. Although I don't take any clubs or anything.

They're not very important at all I got into both schools I applied to and had almost no clubs and no sports, also I must say I hate you, Virginia tech sucks, GO NOLES!!!

I applied to several colleges and none of them stressed clubs whatsoever.

Go to VT, those 'noles are a nasty crowd. Especially if they lose to the terrible 'canes.

Extra curricular activities can seperate you from the other kid. It is a good way to diversify yourself and show you do a lot of things during school besides academics. Or, if you belong to a debate club/UN that is a good thing to show schools.videogamer456

The only thing I plan on doing is NHS, National Honor Society. Its a pain because you need 60 hours of community service a year.

yeah I had to have 150 hours for my IB diploma

What basically clubs, sports, etc. say on college applications is that you actually did something in high school. It is better to have some community service or a sport on there instead of having nothing. It makes you seem more likely to get involve in anything.ChicaQueenWarGa

OK i understand that. But still, grades(GPA) and SAT scores are the most important right?
