Today is the day of the IPO of Facebook. Bidding starts at $38 a share. The market opens in about half an hour. Here is a link for a live update. Will people become rich or poor today? Watch Facebook

It'll top out at $70 a share me thinks. Then it will plunge because everyone will sell.

Sounds feasable. I have a feeling it will go up initially. $70 though. Wow, almost double your money than sell?

I don't see the average person making a lot of money off this. The dudes with millions of dollars will buy up the vast majority of shares, sell them at the right time, and the cost per share will drop.

Price to earnings ratio is like 100 to 1. doesnt seem like a good deal.

lol, what a joke of an IPO. Not touching this. Company is past its prime and way beyond overvalued.

I agree. Also, how is Facebook going to generate any revenue? They don't like advertisements on Facebook.

Not that I can prove it, but it has to be selling user information. You do not make 4 billions of revenue with advertisements. I don't buy it. Only good thing about this IPO is that we'll be able to read their financial statements.

Yeah, I think the initial offering is overvalued. It is an unknown how well FB can make money with ad revenue. It's uncertain how effective ads on it are. Not going to touch that with a 10 ft pole.

Today it will do good but in the end it will be a dumpster fire. When all the insiders are selling big on day 1 and Emperor Zuckerburg retain power no matter what. Stay away!!!!

The hype here is amazing. Generally speaking, buying right at the IPO is for short term speculation, and certainly so for hot tech. companies with problematic valuations (please, a $80 billion+ valuation?). If you want to make any real money from this deal, you'd have to wait for the company to add on billions more in market value, and that's not happening in a healthy or sustainable manner.
